Duties
- Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, plastering, caulking, and applying primer to ensure optimal adhesion and finish quality
- Apply paint, stains, varnishes, and coatings using various methods including brushes, rollers, hand tools, conventional spray equipment, and airless paint sprayers
- Interpret technical drawings, schematics, blueprints, and color schemes to execute precise applications aligned with project specifications
- Conduct surface testing and visual color comparisons to match hues accurately and achieve the desired aesthetic effect
- Perform construction site surface preparation tasks such as masonry work, stucco application, drywall finishing, and framing as needed for seamless paint application
- Maintain safety regulations by utilizing respiratory protection equipment and following protocols for working at heights or in confined spaces
- Assist with renovation projects by installing fixtures, trim carpentry, caulking joints, and performing minor carpentry or handyman tasks to support overall project completion
- Use power tools and hand tools efficiently for surface preparation and finishing touches while maintaining a safe working environment
- Collaborate with project managers and team members to interpret blueprints or schematics for complex industrial or commercial painting projects
- Participate in ongoing training on safety regulations and new painting techniques to ensure compliance and continuous improvement
Experience
- Proven experience in construction painting across residential, commercial, or industrial settings with a solid understanding of surface preparation techniques
- Knowledge of construction estimating processes related to painting projects is a plus
- Familiarity with blueprint reading, schematics interpretation, and technical drawings relevant to construction sites
- Hands-on experience with various painting methods including spray painting (conventional and airless), brushwork, roller application, and specialty coatings
- Skilled in using hand tools such as scrapers, sanders, caulking guns, plastering tools as well as power tools for surface prep and finishing tasks
- Understanding of safety regulations related to construction painting environments including respiratory protection protocols
- Basic math skills for measurements and calculations necessary during project planning or surface assessments
- Experience working on renovation or restoration projects involving plastering, masonry work or fixture installation is advantageous
- Strong background in construction site experience with the ability to interpret technical instructions accurately
