Position Overview
Integrated Logistics Services (ILSMD) is seeking a skilled and dependable MAAS Logistics Technician to support aircraft arresting systems and contingency equipment operations at Grissom. This role combines warehouse logistics, mechanical maintenance, and deployment readiness responsibilities.
The MAAS Logistics Technician plays a critical role in maintaining Mobile Aircraft Arresting Systems (MAAS) and associated equipment in a fully mission-capable status, ensuring readiness for training, contingency, and operational missions.
Key Responsibilities
Aircraft Arresting System (MAAS) Support
- Assist with installation, setup, and reconfiguration of aircraft arresting systems (e.g., BAK-12)
- Perform cable handling, mechanical assembly, and system layout
- Conduct inspections, operational checks, and readiness verification
- Provide occasional support for field installations (1–2 times annually)
Equipment Maintenance & Readiness
- Perform preventive maintenance checks and services (PMCS)
- Inspect and maintain hydraulic systems, generators, compressors, and pumps
- Ensure equipment is clean, serviceable, and deployment-ready within required timelines
- Support minor repairs, preservation, and upkeep of equipment
Warehouse & Inventory Operations
- Receive, store, track, and issue equipment and materials
- Maintain accurate inventory records and assist with inventory counts
- Stage, kit, and prepare equipment for deployment
- Organize materials in designated storage areas and ensure proper packaging and labeling
- Utilize inventory systems such as ARIS and DPAS
Logistics & Transportation Support
- Load and unload equipment from commercial and government transport
- Prepare cargo for shipment in accordance with military and safety standards
- Assist with scheduling deliveries and verifying shipping documentation
- Operate forklifts and material handling equipment (training provided if needed)
Supply & Administrative Support
- Assist with procurement, receiving, and tracking of supplies
- Support inventory documentation and reporting
- Perform basic clerical duties such as data entry and record keeping
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all safety procedures, including hazardous material handling requirements
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Participate in inspections and quality assurance processes
Requirements
- Active SECRET security clearance required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 4 years of logistics, warehouse, or supply experience
- (or 1+ year Air Force Civil Engineer logistics experience)
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs regularly
- Ability to stand, bend, and work in physically demanding environments
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office or similar)
- Valid driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with aircraft arresting systems (MAAS/BAK-12)
- Mechanical or equipment maintenance experience
- Familiarity with Technical Orders (T.O.s) and preventive maintenance procedures
- Experience with warehouse or inventory management systems
- Forklift certification or experience (training available)
- CDL (for certain duties)
Work Environment
This position is performed in a warehouse and outdoor operational environment with exposure to varying weather conditions and mechanical systems. Physical labor and operation of material handling equipment are required.
Salary Range
$65,000 – $80,000 per year, depending on experience, certifications, and level of technical expertise with aircraft arresting systems and mechanical equipment.
