Mountain View Church is a non-denominational, elder-led congregation of Bible-believing followers of Jesus Christ with the vision of Building relationships, Serving families, and Sharing Christ. 110-130 believers and guests gather each week to worship, fellowship, and grow in grace each Sunday morning and Wednesday evening.
Job Summary
The Lead Elder/Pastor provides spiritual leadership, preaching, biblical teaching, pastoral care, and vision in accordance with Mountain View’s Bylaws and Statement of Faith. The Lead Elder/Pastor works alongside the Elder Board and church leadership while being accountable to the Elder Board with affirmation by the congregation. The Lead Elder/Pastor affirms a “first among equals mentality” in relationship and working with the other elders on the Elder Board.
Duties
Preaching & Teaching
- Preach expository, Christ-centered sermons grounded in Scripture
- Teach consistent with the Mountain View and uphold biblical doctrine
- Oversight of worship services in partnership with ministry leaders
- Provide leadership in ordinances including believer’s baptism and the Lord’s Supper
Pastoral Care & Shepherding
- Provide pastoral counseling, prayer, and spiritual guidance
- Perform weddings, funerals, and memorial services
- Care for members, visitation during illness, crisis, and life transitions
- Promote unity and biblical reconciliation within the church
Leadership & Vision
- Lead the church in fulfilling the Great Commission through evangelism and discipleship
- Uphold Church Vision and provide direction for ministries
- Equip and develop leadership among the church body
Church Administration & Governance
- Serve as Elder Board Chair and as chief spokesperson and community representative for the church
- Share church supervisory duties with the Elder Board
- Participate in budget planning and stewardship initiatives
- Member of the Gifts Discernment Committee
Requirements
- A clear calling to pastoral ministry
- Agreement with the Mountain View
- Demonstrated experience in church ministry
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills
Preferences
- Post-high formal education
- Prior pastoral, counseling, or ministry leadership experience
