The Shift Leader is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operation of the car wash during assigned shifts. This role ensures exceptional customer service, safe and efficient operations, high-quality wash performance, and strong team leadership. The Shift Manager leads by example, motivates team members, and helps achieve sales, membership, and operational goals while maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesOperations
- Open and close the facility according to company procedures.
- Oversee daily tunnel operations to ensure efficient vehicle flow and minimal wait times.
- Monitor wash quality and ensure every customer receives a clean, high-quality vehicle.
- Perform routine equipment inspections and basic troubleshooting.
- Coordinate with maintenance personnel when repairs are needed.
- Maintain site cleanliness, including vacuum lot, tunnel, customer areas, lobby, and bathroom.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies, safety standards, and environmental regulations.
Team Leadership
- Supervise, coach, and motivate team members during assigned shifts. This may include shadowing paystation attendants to ensure proper execution of the sales script.
- Assign daily tasks and monitor employee performance.
- Train new employees on safety, customer service, and operational procedures.
- Promote teamwork, accountability, and a positive work environment.
- Address employee concerns and communicate operational updates to management.
Customer Service
- Deliver outstanding customer service with a friendly and professional attitude.
- Resolve customer concerns promptly and professionally.
- Educate customers on wash packages, unlimited membership programs, and promotional offers.
- Build customer loyalty by ensuring every guest has a positive experience.
Sales & Performance
- Drive sales of wash packages, memberships, and retail products.
- Monitor daily sales performance and assist in achieving site goals.
- Track key operational metrics and report issues to management.
- Handle cash, credit card transactions, and daily deposits accurately.
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce all safety procedures and proper use of equipment.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and correct hazards immediately.
- Ensure employees wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain accurate operational and incident documentation.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous car wash experience required.
- Previous supervisory or management experience strongly preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Intermediate mechanical aptitude preferred.
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Proficient with point-of-sale (POS) systems and basic computer applications.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Lift up to 50 pounds.
- Bend, stoop, climb, and perform repetitive movements.
- Work outdoors in heat, cold, rain, and other weather conditions.
- Ability to operate cleaning equipment and basic hand tools.
Schedule
- Full-time and part-time opportunities available (minimum 20 hours per week)
- Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
