SHIFT MANAGER / KEY HOLDER

ABOUT THE ROLE
Shakers Public House is looking for a hands-on shift leader who isn't afraid to get in the weeds — behind the bar, on the floor, or on the line in the kitchen. This role is for someone who leads by doing, solves problems on the fly, and keeps both guests and teammates moving in the right direction.
You'll be based primarily at Shakers Public House in Worthington, with approximately one night per week floating to our sister bar, Dapper Dog Tavern in Grove City. While this is an on-call and as-needed position with rotating nights, weekends, and holidays, we guarantee 40 hours of work per week.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Open and close the location, including security checks, cash handling, and lockup
- Supervise and support front-of-house and bar staff throughout your shift
- Jump into the kitchen and work the line alongside cooks when needed
- Identify and solve operational problems quickly — staffing gaps, service bottlenecks, equipment issues
- Uphold service standards and ensure every guest has a great experience
- Address guest concerns and resolve issues in real time with a calm, solutions-first approach
- Complete end-of-shift reports, cash reconciliation, and manager logs
- Keep communication flowing between bar, floor, and kitchen at all times
- Adapt smoothly between Shakers and Dapper Dog Tavern's teams and environments
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and responsible alcohol service standards
HEADS UP
This is a roll-up-your-sleeves role. On any given shift you may be running the floor, covering the bar, or working the line in the kitchen. We're looking for someone who sees that as an opportunity, not an inconvenience.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- 3+ years of experience in a restaurant, bar, or hospitality setting (required)
- Kitchen experience and comfort working on the line (strongly preferred)
- Prior supervisory or shift lead experience strongly preferred
- Strong problem-solving skills — you assess fast, decide confidently, and adapt on the fly
- Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating schedule
- Ability to be on-call and report to work on short notice when needed
- Reliable transportation between Worthington and Grove City
- Clear communicator who can lead a team across both FOH and BOH
- Comfortable with cash handling, POS systems, and closing procedures
- TIPS certification or Ohio liquor service training a plus
SCHEDULE & AVAILABILITY
Shifts rotate across nights, weekends, and holidays across both Shakers Public House (Worthington) and Dapper Dog Tavern (Grove City). While this is an on-call and as-needed position, 40 hours per week are guaranteed. Candidates must have reliable transportation and the flexibility to be reached and report to work on short notice.
COMPENSATION
Competitive hourly pay based on experience.
Pay: $15.00 - $18.50 per hour
