Compensation: $45-$55 per session (depending on experience)
About the Role
We're looking for a creative and enthusiastic STEAM Instructor to lead our after-school Maker Lab program for elementary students in Walnut Creek. Through hands-on engineering challenges, maker projects, and introductory circuitry activities, students will explore how ideas become inventions while developing creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities
- Lead engaging hands-on STEAM lessons using provided curriculum.
- Facilitate maker projects, engineering challenges, and introductory circuitry activities.
- Guide students as they design, build, test, and improve their creations.
- Encourage creativity, collaboration, perseverance, and problem-solving.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and positive classroom environment.
- Prepare lesson materials and activity supplies before each session.
- Communicate professionally with school staff and program coordinators.
- Submit brief after-class session reports and maintain timely communication with the program team.
Requirements
Experience working with elementary-aged children in educational, enrichment, camp, or youth development settings is preferred. Candidates should possess strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills and enjoy leading hands-on, project-based learning experiences. Applicants must maintain clear and timely communication with the program team, submit brief after-class session reports, have reliable transportation to the assigned school site, and be able to commit to the Fall 2026 program schedule.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in STEM, engineering, science, technology, education, or a related field.
- Experience with maker education, engineering challenges, circuitry, or hands-on STEAM activities.
- Experience leading after-school, camp, or enrichment programs.
