SUMMARY:
The Adjunct Professor of Art will teach one or more undergraduate courses in the Visual Arts, including but not limited to Studio Art, Art Appreciation, or Art History. Instruction may be lecture-based, studio-based, or a combination of both. Most Art History and Art Appreciation courses are offered online, while Studio Art courses are taught on campus. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to student learning and engagement across multiple formats.
Master’s degree in Art, Art History, Fine Arts, or a related discipline from an accredited institution.
PREFERRED:
MFA (Master of Fine Arts) or Ph.D. in a relevant field.
College-level teaching experience is strongly preferred.
Experience teaching in online or hybrid formats is a plus.
CERTIFICATION OR LICENSES:
None required.
KNOWLEDGE:

General and/or specialized knowledge in studio art and/or art history.

Understanding of teaching strategies suitable for both in-person and online instruction.

Familiarity with foundational and contemporary concepts in the visual arts.
SKILLS:

PHYSICAL EFFORT:
This position may require standing for extended periods, operating standard art tools or studio equipment, and occasionally lifting and moving supplies or materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed primarily in classroom, studio, or online environments. Studio instruction may involve exposure to paints, solvents, and other art materials.
WORK SCHEDULE:
Flexible; based on course scheduling and departmental needs. May include day, evening, or online courses.
HOURS REQUIRED PER WEEK:
Typically, 3–9 contact hours per week per course, with additional time required for preparation, grading, and student support.
