Takoma Therapy is a Black/woman-owned private group practice dedicated to providing holistic, trauma-focused care to our diverse community. As a Child & Adolescent Therapist at Takoma Therapy, you will:
Provide Psychotherapy:
Offer individual therapy primarily to children and adolescents (approximately ages 8-17+), as well as some adult clients to round out your caseload and hours. You will use developmentally appropriate, trauma-informed, and evidence-based approaches such as CBT, DBT-informed skills, psychodynamic therapy, EMDR, and play-based or interactive interventions as appropriate.
Engage with Families:
Work collaboratively with parents and caregivers as part of treatment, providing guidance, support, and communication as clinically appropriate.
Focus on Clinical Excellence:
Dedicate your time to developing and honing therapeutic skills while maintaining timely and accurate clinical documentation. We are an in-network provider for CareFirst/Blue Cross Blue Shield, and Cigna and handle all aspects of billing, marketing, and administrative coordination so you can focus fully on clinical work.
Collaborate and Assess:
Engage in thoughtful assessment processes to determine goodness of fit between therapist and client. We encourage a 3 session assessment approach and support clinicians in being intentional about who they work with.
Position Details
- Full-Time minimum 25 client hours per week
- Primary availability: afternoons, evenings, and/or weekends
- In-person sessions are required for younger clients
- Flexible scheduling within a structured framework
Qualifications
- Maryland license required (LCPC, LGPC, LCSW-C, LMSW, LGSW, LMFT, PsyD)
- Experience working with children and/or adolescents strongly preferred
- Comfort working with parents and family systems
- Training or interest in trauma-informed care
- Strong organizational and documentation skills
- Reliable availability during after-school hours and/or weekends
We are especially interested in clinicians who bring creativity and flexibility into their work with children and adolescents, and who are comfortable using developmentally appropriate, interactive approaches to engage young clients.
Professional Development

- Weekly individual and bi-weekly group supervision
- Monthly educational sessions and workshops
- Monthly yoga and art therapy sessions provided free for therapists
- After one year of employment, $500 annually toward continuing education
