Job Summary
Somerset Community College is accepting applications for a Medical Laboratory Technician Instructor/Phlebotomy position.
Job Duties:
- Teach medical laboratory technician and phlebotomy courses;
- Coordinate clinical schedules and documentation for phlebotomy students;
- Participate in evaluation of student achievement;
- Participate in curriculum assessment and development;
- Participate in review and development of program policies and procedures;
- Serve on program committees and participate in assessment of program outcomes;
- Supervise students in laboratory and clinical settings, with some travel to clinic sites, as needed; Demonstrate adequate knowledge and proficiency in assigned content areas of expertise;
- Demonstrate the ability to teach effectively at the appropriate level;
- Other duties include academic advising, internal and external service, professional development and leadership;
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate's of Applied Science degree, or higher, from an accredited university or college in Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT);
- Three years of related work experience;
- Current certification from the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) with certification to work in Kentucky.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's of Science degree from an accredited university or college in Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) OR Medical Technology (MT);
- Classroom, laboratory, or clinical teaching experience.
