Position Summary
The Afterschool Program Assistant supports the implementation of the daily curriculum and activities, student engagement, and care of the facility, equipment, and supplies.
Position Title: Afterschool Program Assistant
Reports to: Afterschool Program Director and Staff Parish Relations Committee
Type of Position: Part-time (2:30-5:30 or 3:00-6:00pm, 3-5 days per week, following the Macon County Schools calendar, plus August 20 & 21 for training)
Program Assistant can also work as Van Driver if all requirements are met
Major Responsibilities:
Engages students in the planned curriculum and recreational activities.
Assists with taking attendance as students arrive and ensuring they leave with designated adult.
Ensures the facility is safe and assists with clean-up and organizing, as needed.
Assists the program coordinator in preparing for the day's activities prior to each session and participates in staff debriefs after the daily program.
Communicates effectively with students and staff, including safety concerns.
Provides advance notice of needed absences.
Attends required program meetings and trainings.
Minimum Requirements:
At least 20 years old
Experience working with older children and/or youth
Strong verbal interpersonal skills appropriate for communicating with students and adults
Embraces teamwork
Christian ethic
Maintains confidentiality
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, sit, walk, climb, lift objects up to 30 pounds, and be physically active with students in the program.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: From $13.00 per hour
