Job OverviewWe are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Assistant Manager to join our dynamic retail team. In this pivotal role, you will support store operations, lead sales initiatives, and foster a positive work environment. Your leadership will drive team performance, ensure excellent customer service, and maintain smooth day-to-day store functions. This position offers an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about management, eager to develop their leadership skills, and committed to delivering exceptional customer experiences. The Assistant Manager is responsible for directing an efficient workflow and assisting the Store Manager in a variety of store operations duties. This position serves as a role model of barista responsibilities and serves as the team leader when the Store Manager is unavailable.
Responsibilities
- Assist in managing daily store operations, including opening and closing procedures, inventory control, and cash handling.
- Supervise and motivate team members to achieve sales goals while maintaining high standards of customer service.
- Ensure consistent and quality customer experience by executing brand beverage recipes and techniques, resolving customer relations issues, and leading the team in delivering the Scooter’s “Amazing” customer service experience
- Maintain speed of service standards during high-volume periods by staying calm, managing an efficient team workflow, anticipating customer needs, and utilizing downtime to prepare for the next rush
- Assist the Store Manager in onboarding and training new team members
- Provide ongoing performance feedback and development for staff members, identifying individual motivation factors and providing clear, constructive feedback to reinforce/improve performance
- Develop effective working relationships with team members, identifying individual motivation factors
- Proactively seek opportunities to increase individual and team sales
- Understand and execute cash handling, point of sale system, and operational procedures in an accurate, consistent manner
- Ensure team members follow all health, safety, and sanitation guidelines
- Support recruiting efforts by participating in interviewing and onboarding new employees.
- Oversee employee orientation, training & development programs to enhance team skills and knowledge.
- Assist in managing merchandising and stock replenishment to optimize sales performance.
- Handle customer inquiries with professionalism using effective communication skills and phone etiquette.
- Ensure compliance with store policies, safety procedures, and retail math standards for accurate cash register operations and sales reporting.
Skills
- Proven experience in assistant management or supervisory roles within retail or grocery stores.
- Strong negotiation, leadership, and team management abilities to inspire staff and improve store performance.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in POS systems, retail math, inventory control, purchasing, and merchandising tools.
- Knowledge of payroll processing, bookkeeping, budgeting, and cash handling procedures.
- Exceptional communication skills with a focus on customer service excellence and phone etiquette.
- Experience in retail sales management, marketing initiatives, and promotional activities.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise staff effectively while managing store operations seamlessly.
