Evolution Dance Company is looking for an enthusiastic, dependable, and nurturing Early Childhood Dance Teacher to join our team!
We are specifically seeking someone who loves working with young children and understands how to make their first dance experiences positive, engaging, and developmentally appropriate. The ideal candidate is energetic, patient, creative, and confident leading a classroom while helping young dancers feel safe, successful, and excited to participate.
ABOUT THE POSITION
Our Early Childhood Dance Teacher will work primarily with dancers between the ages of 18 months and 6 years through programs such as caregiver-and-child classes, creative movement, beginner ballet, jazz, and introductory tumbling.
This position may include weekday daytime, evening, and/or weekend classes depending on the instructor’s availability and our seasonal schedule.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create fun, age-appropriate lesson plans that introduce foundational dance skills Lead classes with warmth, confidence, enthusiasm, and clear expectations Use music, movement, imagination, props, and games to keep young dancers engaged Encourage confidence, independence, coordination, creativity, and classroom readiness Maintain a safe, organized, and positive classroom environment Communicate professionally and kindly with dancers, parents, and EDC staff Arrive prepared, dependable, and ready to make each child feel welcomed Support Evolution Dance Company’s mission, values, and teaching standards Participate in occasional studio events, performances, meetings, or training as needed
OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE
- Genuinely loves working with young children Is patient, playful, encouraging, and able to maintain appropriate classroom structure Has dance training or previous dance experience Has experience teaching, coaching, assisting, or working with children Understands that early-childhood classes require flexibility, creativity, and plenty of energy Communicates clearly and professionally Is dependable, organized, and comfortable taking initiative Works well as part of a collaborative team Is willing to learn and grow within EDC’s curriculum and teaching philosophy
Previous dance teaching experience is preferred, but we are also open to candidates with strong dance training and meaningful experience working with young children. Training and support will be provided to the right person.
