Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dependable Registered Nurse (RN) to provide nursing care for adult and geriatric patients with mental health and behavioral health needs. The RN will be responsible for assessing patient conditions, administering medications and treatments, monitoring mental and physical health status, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to ensure quality patient care. The ideal candidate is committed to promoting patient safety, dignity, and independence while providing therapeutic support.
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and ongoing patient evaluations.
- Develop, implement, and update individualized care plans.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by the provider.
- Monitor patients for changes in physical, emotional, and behavioral status.
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient progress accurately and timely.
- Provide therapeutic communication and emotional support to patients.
- Assist with crisis intervention and behavioral management as needed.
- Ensure a safe environment by identifying and addressing potential risks.
- Collaborate with physicians, psychiatrists, therapists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals.
- Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, medications, and health conditions.
- Respond appropriately to medical and psychiatric emergencies.
- Maintain compliance with all state, federal, and facility regulations.
Qualifications Required
- Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- Current CPR/BLS certification.
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, and clinical decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
- Ability to work effectively with mental health and geriatric populations.
Preferred
- Experience in psychiatric nursing, behavioral health, geriatrics, long-term care, memory care, assisted living, or home health settings.
- Experience caring for patients with dementia, Alzheimer's disease, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and other mental health conditions.
- Knowledge of crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques.
Work Environment
- Mental health, behavioral health, residential, outpatient, or community-based settings.
