Cristo Rey New York High School (CRNYHS), a member of the national Cristo Rey Network, is a coeducational, independent Catholic high school in East Harlem. POSITION SUMMARY
The College Counselor at CRNYHS seeks to educate and foster in our students meaningful college awareness, college access and college success. The College Counselor reports to the Director of College Guidance.
- College Awareness: The College Counselor is responsible for promoting awareness of and interest in college among students from all grades. The College Counselor will be assigned to teach our College Counseling course. The College Counselor will also foster awareness through workshops offered throughout the year to students and their parents.
- College Access: The College Counselor will begin a direct relationship with students and families during their junior year that will continuing through senior year as students research, select, apply to, register for, and obtain sufficient financial support to attend college.
- College Success: The College Counselor designs and implements activities that prepare all students for college.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Qualified applicants will have some successful full-time college counseling experience at the secondary level and have worked with a culturally diverse student population.
- Bachelor’s degree is required.
- Master’s degree in counseling is preferred.
- Prior experience in college counseling or college admissions
- Fluency in Spanish is desired; Proficiency in Spanish is required.
- This is a 12-month position.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Salary Range: $58,000 – $65,000
CRNYHS determines compensation based on several factors including years of experience, certification, and degree.
