Fashion Assistant Technical Designer (Full-Time)

We are a Woodland Hills–based young men’s and boys’ apparel company seeking a full-time Fashion Assistant Technical Designer to join our Product Development team.

Position Overview
The Assistant Technical Designer supports the day-to-day product development process for both new and ongoing styles, under the direction of the Product Development Manager.
This role partners closely with Design, Production, and Sourcing teams to ensure timely execution of the development calendar. Responsibilities span from proto development through TOP approval, including PLM maintenance, sample tracking, approvals, and communication with cross-functional partners and vendors.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain fabric and sample libraries; create and organize fabric swatches and binders
- Support the Product Development Manager to ensure smooth workflow and team success
- Understand various fabric types, yarn qualities, and their functional applications
- Communicate with suppliers regarding fabrics, trims, and samples (under management direction)
- Track and execute daily tasks according to the Time & Action Calendar, including:
- Strike-offs
- Lab dips
- Fabric and trim approvals
- Testing reports and results
- Sample submissions and approvals
- Monitor development timelines to ensure on-time delivery
- Follow up on final approvals with Senior Designer and Product Development Manager
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date information in PLM
- Respond to email and phone communication within 24 hours using clear, concise communication

Education
- Bachelor’s degree required (Textiles, Fashion Design, or related field)
Technical Skills
- Solid understanding of garment construction and how to spec garments
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word (tracking, formatting, reporting)
- Working knowledge of PLM systems
- Basic knowledge of Photoshop and/or Illustrator is a plus
Software Proficiency
- Microsoft Outlook
- Excel, Word, PowerPoint
