The Native Connections Grant Project Director oversees the day-to-day operations of the grant projects consistent with the grant proposal, Absentee Shawnee Tribal operational principles, SAMHSA Grants Policies, grant conditions, grant requirements, and applicable statutes, all located and overseen within the Education Department. The Project Director is responsible for attaining project objectives, managing portions of grant budget, assuring timely and accurate submission of required reports, a liaison with funding and collaborating organizations, assisting with outreach and prevention efforts.
Education and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree; preferably with at least two-years of experience with a tribal grant unit or cross-agency experience with a community-based project. Masters preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency in grants management, public speaking, group facilitation, training, prevention program development, prevention evaluation, strategic planning, and implementation, and data compilation.
- Understand principles, practices and techniques of grant project planning, development, evaluation, procedures of budget preparation and monitoring, and contracted services.
- Immediate to advanced computer skills (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.)
- Culturally sensitive.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Must be able to pass a drug test for pre-employment for the Tribe
- Must have a valid Oklahoma Driver’s License.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Must be able to sit, stand, stoop, bend or kneel for long periods of time.
- Sitting or standing or walking for long period of time; occasional bending, squatting, kneeling, stooping; good finger dexterity and feeling; frequent repetitive motions; talking hearing and visual acuity.
- Willing to travel.
- Frequent lifting (up to 15 lbs)
- Occasional lifting (up to 30 lbs)
