Reading Specialist / Tutor
Local learning center is seeking a Reading Tutor who is passionate, kind, and loves learning. This role will entail working with students in a one on one setting at our Arcadia center location. We specialize in working with kids with dyslexia & ADHD, so we are looking for fun, empathetic, and patient instructors.
Training in Arcadia Literacy & Learning Programs will be provided for all tutors, no previous training required, but previous teaching experience or experience working with children in a professional setting is highly preferred.
Tutor Responsibilities:
- Facilitate one on one sessions with students
- Create lessons based on a set curriculum (training and curriculum provided)
- Create a warm, welcoming environment for each student
- Communicate with management team to provide feedback on student progress on the plan
- Use multi sensory instructional techniques and positive praise to build student understanding (training provided)
- Build rapport and strong working relationships with students
- Participate in monthly team meetings

- Excellent at reading, writing, and spelling
- Experienced at working with school-aged children, ideally in a tutoring or educational setting.
- This position is ideal for college students seeking job experience while enrolled in a degree program, or for working professionals looking to stay in the field of education with 1:1 teaching.
- Flexible hours are perfect for anyone completing an online post-grad degree!
- Great position for anyone with experience as camp counselors, after-school support, babysitting, coaching, etc.
Hours/Pay:
- Part-time, we are able to accommodate between 10-25 hours per week.
- Afternoon availability required (3-7 PM for at least 2 weeknights) *Must be available either Tuesday or Thursday afternoon
- Variable hours, depending on client needs. Hours required will vary from week to week, but minimum hours will be met.
- Pay when tutoring is $20-$22/hr. This is a W2 position and cancellations are paid.
- Training is paid! Training pay is $16/hr.
- Room for growth! Full time positions and advanced positions are available for promotion.
