Responsibilities
- Thoroughly wash dishes, glassware, silverware, pots, pans, and kitchen tools using proper cleaning techniques
- Follow food safety sanitizing procedures to prevent cross-contamination and ensure compliance with health standard.
- Operate dishwashing machines and other kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
- Handle manual tasks such as loading/unloading dish racks and organizing clean items for storage or use
- Maintain cleanliness of the dishwashing area, including sinks, counters, and floors, adhering to sanitation standards
- Support food preparation activities when needed, including basic ingredient handling and prep work
Requirements
- Prior experience in food service or restaurant environments is preferred but not mandatory; enthusiasm to learn is key!
- Knowledge of food safety management and sanitation practices within a commercial kitchen setting
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when handling large pots, trays, or bulk supplies
- Familiarity with operating kitchen equipment such as dishwashers and cleaning tools
- Strong manual handling skills with attention to detail in cleaning procedures
- Understanding of kitchen health and safety standards to maintain a safe work environment
- Excellent teamwork skills; able to communicate effectively with staff across all roles in the kitchen or catering setting
