STEM Christian Academy is a Christian based preschool with a science, technology, engineering and math focused curriculum. STEM Christian Academy is dedicated to providing quality childcare, interactive learning and memorable experiences for our students. We are looking for a highly motivated, experienced Waddler (1year old) and Toddler (2 year old), 3 year old and VPK Lead Teachers to be a part of a great team. Our school hours are 7:00am-6:00pm, the hours for this position will vary based on the needs of the school. The position will preferably be someone able to work 30-40 hours per week.

We are looking for a qualified Preschool Teacher to prepare small children for kindergarten by easing them into organized education. You will teach them important elements that they will encounter soon after they enter school life. A preschool teacher must have a great love and patience for children. Qualifications needed to teach them effectively include knowledge of best practices and preschool educational methods as well as the ability to engage them and earn their trust and attention. The goal is to contribute to the healthy mental and emotional development of the child so they can more easily acclimate in the next level of education.
Responsibilities
- Embrace STEM education and informal teaching methodologies and strategies as essential functions of the STEM Preschool and curriculum approach.
- Implementation of the daily program, which includes lesson plans and activities.
- Prepares the learning environment indoor and outdoor, setting up interest centers and preparing needed materials and supplies.
- Employ a variety of educational techniques (storytelling, educational play, media etc.) to teach children
- Has open communication (verbal or written) with children, Preschool staff and Director.
- Uses literacy, science, technology, engineering, math and motor development for individual, small and large group activities to provide children opportunities to observe, question and investigate.
- Conducts observation and evaluation of a child’s performance, behavior, social development and physical health. Daily, weekly and monthly Preschool and VPK assessments will be conducted in accordance with guideline and standards.
- Works with other teachers in their daily activities and routines to align with the needs of the Preschool following developmentally appropriate practices and standards.
- Follows and adheres to all administrative policies and rules governing the Preschool and its employees as STEM Christian Academy employees, DCF license and accreditation requirements.
- Works collaboratively with Preschool staff, Director and STEM Christian Academy Education staff to provide appropriate programs, activities and projects.
- Attends professional meetings, educational conferences, workshops and training in order to maintain and improve professional competence. Required number of in-service hours and/or CEUs will be provided according to licensing and accreditation requirements.
- Observe each child to help them improve their social competencies and build self-esteem
- Greets all arriving and departing children and their parents/guardian.
- Organize nap and snack hours and supervise children to ensure they are safe at all times
- Track children’s progress and report to parents
- Communicate with parents regularly

Skills
- Proven experience as a Preschool Teacher
- Excellent understanding of the principles of child development and preschool educational methods
- Familiarity with safety and sanitation guidelines for classrooms

- Balance between a creative mind and a practical acumen
- Certification in child CPR
- Valid licence to practice profession
Minimum Qualifications: Must be at least 21 years old and meet requirements of the licensing agencies.
Education
High school diploma. A degree (Associate or above) in Child Development, Early Childhood, PreKindergarten – Primary, or Elementary education, Exceptional Student Education, Florida Child Care Professional Credential (FCCPC), Early Childhood Professional Certificate (ECPC), Florida Department of Education Child Care Apprenticeship Certificate (CCAC), certified National CDA is preferred.
Experience: Experience working with children 0 – 5 years old.
Certifications: CPR and Basic First Aid Certification. 45 hours DCF mandated child care courses (must be able to provide a current DCF transcript).
Preferred Qualifications
· Clear Level 2 Background screening. May not be on site until this is established.
· Four year old standards.
· Emergent Literacy for VPK.
· Communication skills-presentation, public speaking and written.
· Reliable, organized, self-starter.
· Ability to work with little supervision.
· Active listening, instructing, speaking, reading comprehension, learning strategies, writing, monitoring, time management, and monitoring skills.
Physical Demands
· Must be able to stand for extended periods.
· Ability to lift up to 45 lbs.
· Tasks involve the ability to exert very moderate physical effort in light work involving stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling.
· Sensory requirements are visual perceptions and discrimination, oral communication and ability to perceive and discriminate sounds.
