CNC Machinist – 1st Shift
Shift: 1st Shift | Monday – Thursday | 5:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Pay: $25.00 – $30.00 per hour (Based on Experience)
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to join our 1st shift team. This position is responsible for setting up and operating CNC vertical and horizontal milling machines to produce high-quality precision machined components while maintaining tight tolerances and meeting production requirements.
The ideal candidate has strong setup experience, can edit CNC programs, interpret blueprints, and is comfortable machining a variety of metals.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC vertical and horizontal milling machines.
- Perform machining operations including milling, boring, drilling, threading, facing, grinding, and tapering.
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, job travelers, and work instructions.
- Edit CNC programs and make machine adjustments as needed to maintain quality and production standards.
- Select appropriate tooling and cutting parameters based on material specifications.
- Measure and inspect finished parts using micrometers, calipers, verniers, and other precision measuring equipment.
- Hold tolerances to ±.001".
- Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and program issues and recommend corrective actions.
- Complete inspection reports and maintain accurate production documentation.
- Operate hand tools and material handling equipment, including forklifts and overhead cranes when needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Follow all company safety and quality procedures.
Qualifications
- Minimum 4 years of CNC machining experience, including setup and operation of vertical and horizontal mills.
- Ability to read, edit, and troubleshoot CNC programs.
- Experience using G-Code and M-Code.
- Strong blueprint reading skills.
- Ability to hold tight tolerances to ±.001".
- Proficient with precision measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers, verniers, and tape measures.
- Knowledge of cutting tools, machining practices, and tooling applications.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Experience with a 4-jaw chuck setup is a plus.
- Experience machining a variety of metals is preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Stand and walk throughout a 10-hour shift in a manufacturing environment.
- Lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Safely operate forklifts and overhead cranes when required.
- Perform bending, reaching, climbing, and other physical tasks associated with machining operations.
