Duties
- Assist in executing external audits for a variety of clients, including governmental agencies and non-profit organizations.
- Evaluate internal control systems using to identify risks and recommend improvements.
- Conduct detailed testing of financial transactions and account balances in accordance with GAAS (Generally Accepted Auditing Standards) and GAGAS (Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards).
- Prepare comprehensive audit documentation, working papers, and clear reports that reflect audit findings and recommendations.
- Support the review of financial reports to ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and other regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with team members to analyze financial data, perform risk assessments, and identify potential areas for process enhancement.
- Gain exposure to technical accounting issues including state and federal compliance, and governmental accounting standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
- Strong understanding of fundamental accounting principles such as GAAP and GAAS.
- Basic knowledge of auditing procedures, internal controls, and risk management concepts.
- Excellent analysis skills with attention to detail and accuracy in financial report writing.
- Demonstrated interest or experience in public accounting, governmental accounting, or financial services is a plus.
- Effective communication skills to clearly articulate audit findings and collaborate within a team environment.
