Maintains and controls processes for equipment such as Gas
Turbines, Air and Gas Compressors, Generators, Motors, pumps, Emissions
Monitors, Reverse Osmosis Units, Demineralizers, for the purpose of providing
peaking power into the state of California power grid.
ESSENTIAL
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operate, maintain, calibrate,
troubleshoot and repair plant instrumentation, control devices and electrical
equipment.
Operate generation units (Gas Turbine
Generator), associated auxiliary equipment using plant operating procedures as
required in an efficient and safe manner.
Performs routine maintenance repairs on
all equipment including, estimating man-hours for work activities, writing work
assignments and recordkeeping of expended materials and labor.
Repair and tune various types of
controllers associated with process instrumentation.
Repair and calibrate pneumatic and
electric actuated control devices
Troubleshoot equipment failures,
analyze process conditions and impacts in order to recommend improvements for
reliability issues..
Adjusts manual controls or overrides
automatic controls to bring equipment into recommended or prescribed operating
ranges, switch to backup equipment or systems, or to shut down equipment. Opens and closes valves as required for
proper system operation and electrical isolation. Opens and closes circuit breakers for proper
system operation and electrical isolation.
Records operation and maintenance
actions taken and initiates purchase orders for spare and replacement parts.
Reads and understands technical manuals
and system piping, electrical and instrumentation diagrams/drawings.
Prepares legible and understandable
work orders for required preventative and corrective maintenance.
Reads, understands, and complies with
all plant safety and regulatory procedures.
Responsible for carrying out the above
duties, an all other reasonable duties as assigned, while complying with the
applicable plant environmental, fire, safety, and health programs. Training in these areas will be given to the
employee.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent
from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related
experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and
experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents
such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure
manuals. Ability to write routine
reports and correspondence. Ability to
speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and
divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and
decimals. Ability to compute rate,
ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and
deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited
standardization exists. Ability to
interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or
schedule form.
