Responsibilities
- Greet customers warmly and listen carefully to understand their vehicle concerns and service needs
- Conduct thorough vehicle inspections and communicate findings clearly to clients
- Prepare detailed repair estimates using estimating software, including parts, labor, and additional services
- Recommend appropriate services such as oil changes, brake repairs, tire rotations, alignments, suspension work, or transmission repairs
- Upsell additional services or products that enhance vehicle performance and safety while maintaining transparency
- Coordinate with technicians to schedule repairs and ensure timely completion of services
- Maintain accurate service records, write clear service reports, and handle cash or electronic payments efficiently
- Communicate effectively with clients throughout the repair process to provide updates and answer questions
- Utilize automotive diagnostics tools to assist in identifying mechanical issues when necessary
- Foster strong client relationships through excellent communication skills and professional service
Skills
- Proven experience as a Service Advisor or in a similar auto service management role within a dealership or independent shop
- Strong mechanical knowledge across automotive systems including transmissions, brakes, suspensions, air brakes, diesel engines, shocks & struts, alignments, tire services, and collision repair
- Familiarity with estimating software and computer-aided vehicle damage estimating tools
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate complex technical information clearly
- Ability to upsell services ethically while prioritizing customer needs
- Previous experience with auto estimating and service writing is highly desirable
- Knowledge of automotive diagnostics tools and procedures for efficient troubleshooting
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Ability to handle cash transactions accurately and maintain confidentiality of client information
