We are seeking a dedicated and personable Veterinary Front Desk Receptionist to join our dynamic veterinary team. This role is vital in creating a welcoming environment for clients and their pets, managing appointment scheduling, and supporting veterinary staff with administrative tasks. The successful applicant will demonstrate proficiency in veterinary terminology, client communication, and veterinary software, ensuring smooth daily operations within our clinic.
Duties
- Greet clients and their pets warmly, establishing a positive first impression of the clinic.
- Schedule appointments efficiently while managing the clinic’s calendar using veterinary management software.
- Collect medical history and payments from clients, ensuring accurate documentation in compliance with Veterinary Medical collection standards.
- Assist with client communication regarding pet care instructions, treatment plans, and follow-up appointments.
- Maintain organized front desk operations, including filing, data entry, and handling phone inquiries professionally.
- Support veterinary staff with administrative tasks related to surgery scheduling, laboratory documentation, and medical record updates.
- Ensure adherence to Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) regulations and USDA guidelines during medication handling and record-keeping.
- Facilitate animal restraint during check-in or treatment procedures when necessary, demonstrating knowledge of animal handling and restraint techniques.
Requirements
- Previous experience working in a veterinary clinic or animal hospital environment is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology, medical-surgical procedures, and companion animal medicine.
- Proficiency in veterinary software systems and Microsoft Office applications for administrative support.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with pet owners from diverse backgrounds.
- Familiarity with animal husbandry practices, kennel procedures, and pet grooming is advantageous.
- Knowledge of laboratory procedures, aseptic technique, and animal catheterization is a plus.
- Ability to handle various animals including dogs and other companion animals safely using proper restraint techniques.
- Understanding of veterinary critical care protocols and experience with animal anatomy enhances performance in this role.
- Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
