Schedule: 4-6 hours per month (hours are flexible but must be during program operating hours M-F 8:00-4:00).

Position Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Physical Therapist Consultant to join our team supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This role involves developing comprehensive care plans, delivering patient-centered therapy, and ensuring adherence to clinical documentation standards. The Physical Therapist Consultant, you will deliver expert guidance on therapy interventions, develop personalized care plans, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize individual outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess patients' physical conditions through detailed evaluations, utilizing knowledge of physiology and anatomy to inform treatment strategies.
- Collaborate with speech therapists, educators, and medical professionals to ensure holistic care for individuals with complex needs.
- Develop individualized care plans tailored to each patient's needs, incorporating evidence-based practices.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation in accordance with healthcare standards and electronic health records (EHR) management protocols.
- Provide education and guidance to patients and their families on physiotherapy exercises, injury prevention, and health maintenance strategies.
- Stay current with advancements in physiotherapy practices and healthcare regulations to continually improve service quality.
- Maintain professional certification, if appropriate, and submit a copy of the certificate(s) upon hire and upon renewal.
- Complete Service Needs Assessments for all consumers in all designated programs. Design, write, and monitor goals and objectives in your domain for each Day Habilitation Service Plan.
- Attend consumer meetings as needed.
- Develop and conduct staff training as needed.
- Review all consumers’ goals and objectives semi-annually and sign the semi-annual reviews. In addition, sign admission reviews, Core team signoffs and other documents as outlined in the MassHealth Day Habilitation Regulations.
- Make recommendations for consumers’ programming and teaching strategies.
- Complete required paperwork.
- Write guidelines as needed and in-service staff on the proper implementation.
- Make recommendations for consumers programming and teaching strategies.
- Assist with Fall Assessments screenings in conjunction with Baroco’s RN, as needed.
- Attend or set up equipment clinics for consumers as needed.
- Write PT guidelines and our range of motion guidelines for consumers as needed and Inservice staff of proper implementation.
Qualifications:
- Must be licensed by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Allied Health Professions.
- Experience with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and clinical documentation standards essential for effective patient care.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining compliance with healthcare policies and safety standards.
- Proficiency in medical documentation and electronic health records (EHR) management systems.
- Excellent communication skills coupled with a compassionate approach toward patient care.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English (bilingual skills preferred)
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and individuals.
- Commitment to professionalism, reliability, and ethical practice.
Physical & Work Requirements:
- Medium physical demand (up to 40 lbs.) may assist with lifts and transfers
- Indoor work environment with typical program-related noise
- Ability to organize, plan, and complete tasks independently
- Strong judgment, problem-solving, safety awareness, communication and clinical decision-making skills
Baroco Corporation partners with independent contractors to provide specialized therapeutic services within our day habilitation sites. We welcome qualified independent contractors to provide services under a 1099 contractor arrangement. Contractors are responsible for their own taxes, insurance, professional licensing (as applicable), and business expenses. Payment is made in accordance with the Independent Contractor Agreement upon receipt of invoices.
