Direct Support Professional (DSP) – Full-Time Float/Relief Team
Pay: $17.00/hour
Locations: Sedalia, MO (Sweet Springs and Warsaw, MO, as needed)
Twin Oaks Independent Living is seeking a dependable, adaptable, and compassionate Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join our Full-Time Float/Relief Team.
Our Float/Relief Team plays an important role in supporting our residential program by providing coverage wherever it is needed most. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, works well in different environments, and takes pride in being a reliable resource for both the consumers we support and our team members.
As a member of the Float/Relief Team, you will support multiple residential homes throughout our program. This position does not have a designated home location. Team members will be assigned to different homes based on staffing needs and will help provide consistent, quality care to the consumers we serve.
Schedule & Availability:
This is a full-time position requiring flexibility.
Employees must be available five (5) days per week. Specific available days can be discussed with the Staffing Team; however, employees must be willing and able to work any shift as needed, including:
- First Shift (7AM-3PM)
- Second Shift (3PM-11PM)
- Third Shift (11PM-7AM)
Schedules and assignments will vary based on the needs of the consumers we support and our residential program.
Float/Relief Team members will be assigned to a residential home for their scheduled shift and will remain at that location unless supporting an approved appointment, community outing, or activity with the consumers they serve.
Employees must have reliable transportation to and from assigned work locations. Personal vehicles are not used to transport consumers served.
What You'll Do:
Direct Support Professionals provide direct care and support to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities while promoting independence, dignity, and quality of life.
Responsibilities may include:
- Assisting individuals with daily living activities and personal care needs
- Supporting medication administration after completing required training
- Preparing meals and assisting with household responsibilities
- Encouraging independence and teaching daily living skills
- Supporting individuals during appointments, community outings, shopping trips, and recreational activities
- Following individualized support plans and behavior support plans
- Completing required documentation accurately and timely
- Maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming home environment
- Building positive and respectful relationships with the individuals we support
- Communicating effectively with team members, supervisors, and other support professionals
Who We're Looking For:
The Float/Relief Team is made up of dependable team members who can quickly build rapport with new consumers, learn different routines, and provide consistent support across multiple homes.

Some of our homes support consumers with higher behavioral needs. The Float/Relief Team must be comfortable working in a variety of settings and supporting consumers who may display challenging behaviors.
Previous direct care experience, behavioral support experience, or experience working with consumers with developmental disabilities is highly preferred, but not required. The right candidate must be willing to learn, remain consistent, and confidently support individuals in any home environment.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years old
- High school diploma or GED required
- Reliable transportation required
- Ability to pass Missouri Family Care Safety Registry (FCSR) background screening
- Previous direct care, healthcare, caregiving, or behavioral support experience preferred
- Experience working with challenging behaviors strongly preferred
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Dependable, adaptable, and compassionate
