DEFINITION:
Under the direction of the Supervisor of Maintenance, Operations & Transportation; the
Assistant Supervisor of Maintenance, Operations & Transportation, in coordination with the
Supervisor of MOT is responsible to plan, organize, direct, coordinate, manage, and carry out
the building maintenance, custodial, grounds keeping, safety/security services, pupil
transportation and logistics planning services, and to perform related duties as required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Assists in determination of students' eligibility to ride on school buses in accordance with
the District's policy;
● Assists in determination of routes to be followed by bus drivers;
● Assists in the preparation of time schedules for buses;
● Assists in supervision of bus loading and the determination of authorized bus stops;
Assists in preparation of all state transportation reports and maps of bus routes;
● Keeps a daily record of mileage and number of students transported
● Assists in the preparation of transportation reports.
● Is the main district bus driver.
● Checks and inspects service and maintenance procedures for district owned buses;
Assists in determining disciplinary rules to be maintained on buses;
● Liaison with parents, staff, and bus companies regarding busing requests, concerns and
route changes;
● Assist in planning, organizing, reviewing, and prioritizing work orders and projects for
maintenance, custodial, grounds, and transportation activities;
● If needed, participate in various construction planning and development activities
● If supervisor of MOT is not available; respond to District and staff needs related MOT
activities and services
● Assist in establishing standards of maintenance and preventative maintenance for district
vehicles
● Assist in managing compliance of all safety regulations governing pupil transportation
● Inspect all district vehicles on a regular basis to determine that high standards of
cleanliness, safety, and security are maintained.
● Check driver logs and mileage sheets, also assist with end of the year mileage reports
● Maintain transportation records and prepare reports as needed.
● Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
● Any combination equivalent to: Graduation from high school or possession of a high
school equivalency diploma and either: (a) three (3) years of work experience where the
primary function of the position was transporting individuals from one location to another
(i.e., driving a school bus, bus, van, etc.) or scheduling vehicles for a transportation
system, including or supplemented by one (2) years of work experience in a supervisory
or administrative capacity; or (b) three (3) years of work experience in the transportation
industry which involved risk management, safety and/or security issues.
Licenses and other Requirements
● Valid Class C California Driver's License.
● Valid Class B California Driver’s License.
● School Bus Certification
Knowledge of:
● Applicable laws, rules and regulations regarding maintenance, construction, and related
activities.

● Methods, supplies and equipment used in building maintenance and custodial work.

and property.
● Maintenance methods, tools, and equipment used in maintenance, custodial operations,
transportation, and grounds maintenance work.
● CAL OSHA Title 8-General Safety Orders, Title 24-Special Building Regulations, Title 19
Public Safety regulations.
● Operation of a computer and assigned software.

● Manage the grounds, custodial, skilled maintenance, and transportation functions.
● Estimate materials and labor costs.
● Develop and enforce work standards.
