What You Will Do:

Plan, organize, and evaluate Housekeeping functions. Schedule and supervise Housekeeping staff. Conduct routine inspection of building to ascertain cleaning needs. Assign work; establish deadlines; evaluate progress and quality of work.

Train and orient staff; ensure all Housekeeping protocols and procedures are followed in accordance with established health, hygiene, and appearance policies and regulations (including safety and risk management).

Administer employee policies and procedures. Develop, maintain and periodically update written policies and procedures and job descriptions. Orient staff and train on policies and procedures.

Coordinate projects; maintain records of all project work completed.

Manage inventory of Housekeeping supplies, equipment, and materials; recommend necessary capital equipment enhancements or improvements.

Schedule maintenance on all cleaning equipment.

Develop and implement a department-wide quality assurance program.

Prepare monthly reports, complete required paperwork, logs, and documentation.

Coordinate activities with other departments, as necessary.

Attend in-service classes and staff meetings.

Clean and service public/common areas and private resident areas in accordance with established health, hygiene, and appearance policies and regulations (including safety and risk management) and in order of priority established by director.

Follow all housekeeping protocols and procedures in dusting, polishing, mopping, vacuuming, trash removal, etc.

Properly dispose of refuse, adhering to infection control standards.

Maintain equipment and supplies so as to avoid waste, damage to areas and equipment, and to prevent accidents. Keep utility rooms clean and organized.

Coordinate activities with other departments, as necessary.

Assist with servicing resident laundry, as assigned.

Dependable and able to meet schedule requirements (attendance and punctuality).
- Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
-
The position reports to the Engineering Director and is expected to perform without close supervision and exercise good judgment. The position supervises, directs, and reviews the work of other associates and participates in performance appraisals and disciplinary action.
Why You Are Qualified:
The ideal candidate will have the following:

High school diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred.
- At least three (3) years of progressively responsible, related work experience required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to read and write, follow written and oral instructions and communicate effectively in English. Ability to work with the elderly in a courteous and friendly manner, demonstrating patience and compassion towards the elderly. Ability to perform duties with consideration for residents’ rights at all times and demonstrate integrity and confidentiality in the care of residents and in handling their health information.
Physical/Sensory:

On a daily basis, throughout the workday: Must be capable of sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, reaching, turning, bending, stooping, crouching and kneeling, reaching over the head, grasping with both hands, and fine manipulation. Must physically be able to lift up to 25 pounds unassisted and exert up to 50 pounds of force frequently to move objects. Must have normal eyesight or use corrective lenses. Must have three-dimensional vision and ability to judge distances and spatial relationships so as to see objects where and as they actually are. Must be able to recognize colors. Must be able to hear and distinguish between normal tones and be able to perceive the nature of sounds. Must be able to exchange ideas by means of the spoken word as well as engage in activities to convey detailed or spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, and/or quickly. Must have normal sense of touch and smell.
Environmental Adaptability:

Works in well-lighted, well ventilated building. Must be able to tolerate occasional exposure to dust, fumes, odors, water, etc., as well as some noise. Subject to frequent interruptions. Subject to hostile or emotionally upset individuals. Must be willing to work, when necessary, beyond normal working hours and on weekends, as well as in other positions as necessary. The position requires exposure to some risk to physical and/or mental health and safety (i.e., physical assault, communicable disease, etc).
