About Us
At Energy Chain and Sling, we supply the heavy-duty lifting, rigging, and material handling solutions that keep our local industries moving safely. From manufacturing custom wire rope slings to testing lifting hardware, we build the critical tools our customers rely on every single day. We take immense pride in our quality and safety standards—because we know exactly what is riding on our work.
Position Summary
We are looking for a reliable, detail-oriented Rigging Shop Technician to join our production team. In this role, you won't just be moving boxes; you will be fabricating custom lifting equipment, performing load testing, and keeping our warehouse inventory organized.
If you are mechanically inclined, enjoy physical, hands-on work where precision matters, and want a stable trade career with a strong focus on safety, you’ll fit right in here. No direct rigging experience? We are willing to train the right person with a strong mechanical or industrial background.
Key Responsibilities
- Fabrication: Assemble, cut, and splice wire rope, alloy chain, and synthetic web slings using industrial saws and swaging presses.
- Testing & Inspection: Operate proof-testing machinery (pull testing) to certify that slings and rigging hardware meet OSHA and ASME standards.
- Shipping & Receiving: Pull customer orders, package materials safely for transport, and load/unload delivery trucks using forklifts and overhead cranes.
- Quality Control: Accurately measure and verify tolerances against job orders and drawings. Match proper serial tags and documentation to fabricated products.
- Shop Maintenance: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment. Inspect and maintain shop equipment (presses, dies, pull testers) regularly.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: 1–2 years of experience in a warehouse, manufacturing, fabrication, welding, construction, or mechanical environment is highly preferred.
- The "Tape Measure" Rule: Must have excellent basic math and measurement skills. You need to be able to read a tape measure down to 1/16th of an inch quickly and accurately.
- Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 75 - 100lbs regularly, stand for long periods, and work in a non-climate-controlled shop environment.
- Certifications: Forklift or overhead crane experience is a major plus
- Mindset: High attention to detail, patience (never rushing a safety check), and a safety-first attitude.
Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
