Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced analytical chemist who can help us with confirming a new method of synthesis of zirconium chemicals. You will design, conduct and analyze bench-scale experiments supporting a novel chemical synthesis process our company has designed. Your experiments will result in either iteration or confirmation of process steps, operating parameters, operating procedures and the like for our envisioned process, as well as documentation and analytical work to track yields, impurity levels and the like. This is a singleton project to develop a specific synthesis process that can translate into a full-time position or ongoing consultation opportunities depending on outcomes of the experiement.
Duties
- You will be working at a physical lab location along with one of our team members, and will have access to a zirconium chemistry expert who will be participating on an advisory basis
- You will be working with small amounts of chlorinated and acidic compounds, in a clean environment under fume hood consistent with a wet lab inorganic chemistry process
- You are expected to take point in conducting experiments and interpreting results, collaborating with an expert advisor on experiment design
- You will conduct analytical studies of compounds created, including operation and interpretation of GC-MS/ICP-MS systems.
- Extra benefit if you have experience simulating these process steps in ChemCAD or equivalent simulation software
- We expect the project to take no more than three months, depending on iteration time to refine what is required to obtain high yields and a pure product
Experience
- Graduate level chemistry studies
- Min 2 years working in a wet lab environment
- Demonstrated ability to independently conduct experiments and result analysis using chromatography and spectroscopy
- Ideally 8+ years in an analytical wet lab environment with direct experience developing new chemical synthesis processes
- Experience in chemistry of reactive metals or Group 4 elements is a plus
- Experience with chemical process simulation is a plus
Pay: $100.00 - $300.00 per hour
