Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Med Tech Caregiver to provide high-quality medical and personal care to residents in a healthcare or senior living environment. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in patient care, including experience with geriatric populations, individuals with developmental disabilities, and those requiring specialized memory or hospice care. As a Med Tech Caregiver, you will play a vital role in supporting residents' health, safety, and well-being through attentive caregiving, accurate medical documentation, and adherence to healthcare regulations. Responsibilities
- Assist residents with daily personal care activities such as bathing, grooming, dressing, and mobility assistance, ensuring dignity and respect.
- Monitor and record vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates accurately using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Administer medications following prescribed protocols while maintaining strict compliance with HIPAA regulations and medication administration guidelines.
- Support residents with specialized needs such as tube feeding, catheter care, dementia or Alzheimer’s care, and memory care activities.
- Maintain detailed medical documentation and ensure all records are accurate, complete, and securely stored in compliance with healthcare standards.
- Provide emotional support and companionship to residents, fostering a caring environment that promotes mental well-being.
- Assist with heavy lifting and manual handling tasks safely while adhering to proper techniques to prevent injury.
- Collaborate effectively with nursing staff and healthcare professionals to coordinate resident care plans within state healthcare regulations.
Requirements
- Prior assisted living experience or nursing home experience is highly preferred; hospital or home care experience is also valuable.
- Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and senior or geriatric patient care practices.
- Certification in First Aid and CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) is required; additional certifications such as Basic Life Support (BLS) are advantageous.
- Familiarity with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems like Cerner or EHR platforms for accurate documentation.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or dementia is desirable; knowledge of Alzheimer’s and memory care best practices is essential.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and handle physically demanding tasks associated with caregiving environments.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and maintaining resident confidentiality at all times is mandatory.
- Valid certification from the State Board of Nursing or relevant licensing for Med Tech roles may be required depending on jurisdiction.
