Adventureland Child Care Center is seeking a dynamic, experienced, knowledgeable, and dedicated Educational Director to lead and shape the educational program at our Woodside location.
Our center provides high-quality care and education for Infants, Toddlers, 3-K, and Pre-K children. We are looking for an educational leader who is passionate about early childhood education, committed to instructional excellence, and knowledgeable about New York City child care regulations and developmentally appropriate practices.
The Educational Director will serve as a key educational leader within the organization, overseeing academic programming, supporting and developing our teaching team, strengthening curriculum and classroom practices, and ensuring compliance with applicable NYC Department of Health regulations and Article 47 requirements.

Key ResponsibilitiesEducational Leadership & Program Development
- Serve as the center's primary educational leader and provide vision, direction, and leadership for the educational program.
- Oversee the educational program for Infant, Toddler, 3-K, and Pre-K classrooms.
- Develop, implement, and continuously evaluate comprehensive educational strategies designed to strengthen classroom quality and children's learning experiences.
- Develop and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum and instructional practices.
- Promote best practices in early childhood teaching, curriculum development, classroom management, and student engagement.
- Review and evaluate educational programming to ensure that it meets children's developmental needs and program standards.
- Monitor the effectiveness of curriculum and classroom practices and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Support the development and implementation of educational policies, procedures, and program goals.
- Help establish strategic educational goals and initiatives that support the continued growth and quality of the program.
Staff Leadership & Professional Development
- Lead, supervise, mentor, and support teachers and educational staff.
- Foster a collaborative, professional, and high-performing teaching team.
- Observe classrooms regularly and provide teachers with constructive feedback, guidance, coaching, and support.
- Review lesson plans and classroom activities to ensure they are developmentally appropriate and aligned with program expectations.
- Support teachers with classroom management, individualized instruction, and strategies for meeting the needs of diverse learners.
- Lead staff meetings and educational team meetings.
- Identify professional development needs and support ongoing training and staff growth.
- Assist with personnel development, performance improvement, and maintaining high professional standards.
- Serve as a role model for teachers and staff by promoting professionalism, accountability, teamwork, and excellence.
- Maintain staff files
Program Administration & Organizational Leadership
- Work closely with administration to ensure the effective operation and continued improvement of the educational program.
- Participate in program planning, evaluation, and organizational decision-making.
- Assist administration with educational resource planning and responsible allocation of program resources.
- Provide input regarding educational staffing, classroom needs, materials, supplies, and program priorities.
- Support the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to educational programming.
- Maintain organized systems for curriculum planning, classroom observations, staff development, and program evaluation.
- Collaborate with administration to establish priorities and ensure educational goals are aligned with the overall mission of Adventureland Child Care Center.
Child Enrollment & Family Support
- Oversee the registration and enrollment of children, including reviewing applications and required enrollment documentation.
- Assist families throughout the registration and enrollment process and answer questions regarding program requirements.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date enrollment, attendance, developmental, and child records.
- Ensure all required enrollment, medical, and program documentation is properly obtained, reviewed, and maintained.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with families regarding children's development, educational progress, and program needs.
- Build positive relationships with families and promote open communication between families and the educational team.
Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Ensure compliance with applicable NYC Department of Health regulations and New York City Health Code Article 47 requirements.
- Maintain awareness of regulatory requirements affecting the educational program.
- Ensure classroom practices, curriculum, documentation, and educational procedures meet applicable program and regulatory standards.
- Support the center in preparing for inspections, monitoring visits, and regulatory reviews.
- Identify areas for improvement and work collaboratively with administration and staff to address concerns and strengthen program quality.
- Maintain a safe, nurturing, inclusive, and professional educational environment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
- Valid New York State early childhood education certification.
- Minimum of 2 years of classroom teaching experience.
- Strong knowledge of NYC Department of Health child care regulations and Article 47 requirements.
- Knowledge and experience with Creative Curriculum.
- Knowledge of Pre-K and 3-K units and curriculum.
- Experience working with infants, toddlers, preschool-age children, and early childhood teaching staff.
- Experience with child registration, enrollment, and maintaining student records.
- Demonstrated experience in educational leadership, staff supervision, or program administration.
- Strong understanding of developmentally appropriate practices and early childhood curriculum.
- Strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, mentor, and develop staff.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced early childhood environment.
- Professional, dependable, organized, detail-oriented, and passionate about early childhood education.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as an Educational Director, Education Director, Program Director, Lead Teacher, or similar early childhood leadership position.
- Experience overseeing multiple classrooms or educational programs.
- Experience with strategic planning, program evaluation, and educational improvement initiatives.
- Experience developing or implementing educational policies and procedures.
- Experience with staff supervision, professional development, and performance management.
- Familiarity with NYC child care inspections, monitoring visits, and regulatory requirements.
- Experience working collaboratively with administration, families, regulatory agencies, and community partners.
- Strong understanding of child development and current early childhood educational best practices.
Schedule
Monday–Friday8:30 AM–5:30 PM
Compensation & Benefits
85,000–95,000 per year, based on education, certification, qualifications, leadership experience, and professional background.
