Role Overview
BEPC is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to support the design, implementation, administration, and integration of the IBM Engineering Lifecycle Management (ELM)/Jazz platform for safety-critical aerospace programs in Phoenix, AZ.
This role will support Requirements-Based Engineering (RBE), regulatory compliance, end-to-end traceability, and Digital Thread initiatives across aircraft requirements, manufacturing, software, hardware, testing, and verification activities. The ideal candidate will have deep IBM ELM expertise, aerospace systems engineering experience, and a proven ability to integrate engineering lifecycle tools across enterprise environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain the IBM ELM/Jazz platform for aerospace engineering workflows.
- Serve as a technical focal point for IBM DOORS Next Generation, Engineering Workflow Management, Engineering Test Management, Rhapsody, Global Configuration Management, and Jazz Team Server.
- Configure project areas, permissions, access controls, workflows, templates, and lifecycle processes.
- Integrate IBM ELM with PLM, CAD, ERP, MES, and other enterprise engineering systems.
- Develop linked data integrations using OSLC, REST APIs, middleware, and integration adapters.
- Define data federation and synchronization strategies that support a reliable single source of truth.
- Establish configuration management links between systems engineering data and product structures, including as-designed and as-built bills of materials.
- Align systems engineering workflows with ARP4754 aerospace development guidelines.
- Track Development Assurance Levels across system architecture elements.
- Develop automated traceability matrices, verification reports, and compliance documentation.
- Support compliance activities involving ARP4754, DO-178C, and DO-254.
- Partner with Quality Assurance teams to align Engineering Test Management with Requirements-Based Engineering workflows.
- Manage change requests, defect tracking, and planning activities within Engineering Workflow Management.
- Troubleshoot platform performance, configuration conflicts, availability, and system integration issues.
- Develop automation scripts, plugins, and integrations using JavaScript, Python, REST APIs, and OSLC.
- Create automated reports, enterprise dashboards, and compliance visualizations using IBM reporting tools, Power BI, Tableau, BIRT, or similar platforms.
- Collaborate with engineering, quality, software, hardware, manufacturing, and enterprise technology teams.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience supporting software or systems engineering tools.
- Deep hands-on experience with the IBM Engineering Lifecycle Management ecosystem.
- Experience with IBM DOORS Next Generation, Engineering Workflow Management, and Engineering Test Management.
- Experience supporting Requirements-Based Engineering within aerospace applications.
- Proven experience integrating IBM ELM with enterprise engineering and product lifecycle systems.
- Experience using OSLC, REST APIs, middleware, or integration adapters.
- Experience with Requirements-Based Engineering and Model-Based Systems Engineering.
- Strong practical knowledge of ARP4754 aerospace development frameworks.
- Familiarity with DO-178C software assurance and DO-254 hardware assurance requirements.
- Experience administering engineering workflows, access controls, permissions, and configuration management.
- Experience developing dashboards, automated reports, and compliance metrics.
- Scripting or automation experience using JavaScript, Python, or related technologies.
- Strong documentation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work effectively across engineering and enterprise technology teams.
Education
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience integrating IBM ELM with Siemens Teamcenter, PTC Windchill, Dassault 3DEXPERIENCE, CAMEO, or similar enterprise platforms.
- Experience with IBM Rhapsody, Global Configuration Management, Jazz Team Server, and Engineering Lifecycle Optimization tools.
- Experience creating dashboards using Power BI, Tableau, BIRT, or IBM reporting solutions.
- IBM ELM certification or related IBM credentials.
- Experience supporting Digital Thread initiatives.
- Familiarity with Agile, SAFe, and Waterfall delivery methodologies.
- Experience supporting safety-critical aerospace systems and certification activities.
- Strong knowledge of systems engineering lifecycle management and regulatory traceability.
