Purpose of Job
The purpose of this position is to provide administrative, programmatic, operational, and activity support for the ongoing activities and initiatives of the Sustainability Department. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: writing public interest articles, coordinating and maintaining web page and social media accounts, utilizing information systems for researching, monitoring, and reporting financial and programmatic data, tracking and maintaining unit program accomplishments, assisting with intern and staff training, and performing additional tasks as assigned.
Job-Related Requirements
WORK SCHEDULE: The exact schedule is flexible upon entry into the position, but will be consistent and regularly occur M-F between the hours of 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Some after-hours work is anticipated. An average of 20-30 hours per week is anticipated.
Some weekend and evening work may be required.
May be required to work on religious holidays.
Regular and predictable attendance is required.
Must work cooperatively with others.
When requirements include vehicle operation, responsible for the safety, readiness and operation of the vehicle and must abide by ACC's safe driving policy.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES Associate/Vocational/Technical degree in General Business, Secretarial Science, Computer Science or related discipline, and two years of secretarial, office management, marketing, or related experience required; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this job.
Familiar with and/or enthusiastic about nature, energy, and a sustainable community.
Demonstrated history of working collaboratively, as part of a team, and self-directed.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be physically able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment including a personal computer, copier, calculator, 35mm camera, etc. Must be able to use body members to work, move or carry objects or materials. This position requires: walking, standing, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, seeing, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Must be able to exert up to 35 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently. Physical demand requirements are at levels of those for light to sometimes medium work.
DATA CONCEPTION: Requires the ability to compare and/or judge the readily observable functional, structural, or compositional characteristics (whether similar to or divergent from obvious standards) of data, people, or things.
INTERPERSONAL COMMUNICATION: Requires the ability to communicate effectively with people through speech and/or signals in order to convey or exchange information. Includes receiving assignments and/or directions from supervisors and receiving assignments and/or directions to co-workers, assistants, and supervisors.
LANGUAGE ABILITY: Requires the ability to read a variety of project reports, budget reports, quarterly reports, time sheets, technical and research publications, management manuals, personnel policies, computer manuals, grants documents, regulations, and informational documentation, directions, instructions, methods, and procedures. Requires the ability to prepare correspondence, standard operating procedures, reports, agreements, contracts, and special project reports using prescribed formats and conforming to all rules of punctuation, grammar, diction, and style. Requires the ability to speak to people individually and in groups with poise, voice control, and confidence.
INTELLIGENCE: Requires the ability to learn and understand complex principles and techniques; to acquire and be able to expound on knowledge of topics related to primary occupation; and to make independent judgement in the absence of the director.
VERBAL APTITUDE: Requires the ability to record and deliver information, to explain procedures, and to follow oral and written instructions. Must be able to communicate effectively and efficiently in a variety of administrative, technical or professional languages. This includes familiarity with ecological, energy, sustainability, legal, computer, accounting, vocational, and personnel terminology.
NUMERICAL APTITUDE: Requires the ability to utilize mathematical formulas; add and subtract totals; multiply and divide; utilize and determine percentages; interpret graphs; compute discounts, interest, profit and loss, ratio and proportion, etc.; perform calculations involving variables, formulas, square roots, and polynomials; perform statistical calculations which include frequency distributions, reliability and validity of tests, correlation techniques, factor analysis, and econometrics.
FORM/SPATIAL APTITUDE: Requires the ability to inspect items for proper length, width, and shape, visually; utilize drafting instruments and general office equipment.
MOTOR COORDINATION: Requires the ability to coordinate hands and eyes accurately in using instruments and specialty equipment critical to the function of the unit, as well as office and equipment. Requires the ability to use the keyboard, lift, bend, push, and pull objects or materials using body parts as the position necessitates.
MANUAL DEXTERITY: Requires the ability to handle a variety of items such as radios, computers, cameras, specialty equipment associated with the unit, and office supplies. Must have the ability to use one hand for twisting or turning motion while coordinating other hand with different activities. Must have minimal levels of eye/hand/foot coordination.
COLOR DISCRIMINATION: Requires the ability to differentiate between colors and shades of color.
INTERPERSONAL TEMPERAMENT: Requires the ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions. Must be able to work with minimal supervision. Must be adaptable to performing under considerable stress when confronted with an emergency.
PHYSICAL COMMUNICATION: Requires the ability to talk and/or hear: (Talking - expressing or exchanging ideas by means of spoken words). (Hearing - perceiving nature of sounds by ear). Required to communicate via telephone and/or two-way radio.
