This position is with Café Il Mondo, an Italian restaurant located in the town of Honokaa on Hawaiʻi Island. Since opening its doors in Honokaa, Café Il Mondo has continued to serve the community with freshly prepared Italian food, with a special focus on pizzas made with house-made dough and baked in our in-house oven. Known for its memorable interior and exterior, Café Il Mondo welcomes both loyal local customers and visitors from outside the community with a warm, hospitality-minded approach. As Restaurant Manager, who supervises the Server and Restaurant Cook, including at the Café Il Mondo restaurant, your responsibility includes:
· Oversee the day-to-day operations of the restaurant, including managing staff, finances, and customer service.
· Ensure there is sufficient inventory, supplies, and ingredients.
· Ensure compliance with local and national health, safety, and sanitation standards
· Manage costs and propose changes to menu prices based on sales data, develop and manage budgets for labor, food, and supplies
· Communicate with customers and restaurant owner to handle and resolve customer complaints.
· Ensure compliance with county liquor licensing requirements
· Communicate with Restaurant Owner to report on issues that requires the owner’s attention.
· Assist the Restaurant Owner in marketing and public relations for the restaurant.
· Plan and coordinate events with the Restaurant Owner to promote the restaurant.
· Assist the Server with front of house duties upon request.
· Assist the Restaurant Cook with the back of house duties upon request.
The ideal candidate will have a combination of operational, managerial, and customer-facing experience relevant to restaurants, hospitality, food service, retail food operations, sales, or a related business. Preferred qualifications include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Educational background in hospitality management, culinary arts, business administration, marketing, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- Experience in restaurant operations, food service, hospitality, kitchen operations, catering, or other food-related business operations
- Experience managing or supervising restaurant or hospitality teams, including training, scheduling, evaluation, and performance management
- Experience in customer service, hospitality, sales, local marketing, restaurant promotions, or business development
- Ability to coordinate food preparation, inventory, staffing, and purchasing with sales targets, customer demand, and peak service periods
- Strong communication, leadership, problem-solving, time-management, and organizational skills
- Ability to work in a hands-on restaurant environment and collaborate effectively with kitchen staff, front-of-house staff, delivery teams, vendors, and ownership
- Familiarity with food safety standards, sanitation procedures, quality control, allergen management, health regulations, and applicable labor or licensing requirements is preferred
Pay: $25.00 per hour
