Safety Director
Ohio | $130K–$150K Base + Vehicle + Bonus + ESOP
Our client is a well-established, employee-owned GC/CM with a strong reputation across Ohio. They are seeking a Safety Director to lead safety operations across their construction projects, field teams, and internal safety department.
This is a highly visible leadership role for someone who can balance strategic oversight with a hands-on field presence. The ideal candidate will have strong construction safety experience, credibility with field teams, and the ability to lead safety initiatives across a growing business.
What You’ll Do
- Lead safety efforts across active construction projects and field operations
- Provide technical leadership around OSHA, MSHA, regulatory compliance, injury prevention, and risk management
- Oversee and mentor safety team members, including site visits, inspections, reporting, and follow-up
- Partner with field leaders, project teams, subcontractors, and senior leadership to reinforce a strong safety culture
- Manage safety training, documentation, recordkeeping, incident investigations, and return-to-work support
- Support subcontractor safety, client requirements, prequalification processes, insurance/loss control, and internal safety programs
- Maintain safety manuals, SDS manuals, policies, procedures, and compliance documentation
What We’re Looking For
- 10+ years of construction or industrial safety experience
- 5+ years of safety leadership experience
- Experience within a GC/CM, subcontractor, or self-perform construction environment
- Strong field credibility and the ability to coach, lead, and hold teams accountable
- BCSP certification preferred/required
- OSHA 500 preferred
- Ability to train on topics such as fall protection, confined space, LOTO, and MEWP
Why This Role
This is not a desk-only safety role. Our client is looking for a seasoned, practical safety leader who can be visible in the field, support Superintendents and project teams, manage direct reports, and take real ownership of safety operations.
The right person will be a strong communicator, a steady leader, and someone who knows how to drive accountability while maintaining strong relationships with field teams.
