ABOUT THE POSITION:
The Physical Therapy Chief I directs a small staff providing physical therapy services in treating patients with any physical or mental disease or injury and in training students in an autonomous acute or rehabilitation hospital. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
What You'll Be Doing:
- Evaluates needs and services and sets goals, objectives and standards of physical therapy services; develops programs and policies, delegates responsibilities to frontline supervisors to implement patient care programs to meet the goals and reviews progress in achieving goals.

Maintains liaison with the physical therapy staff, allied health fields and outside agencies to promote cooperation and obtain assistance in evaluating, identifying and updating physical therapy services.

Analyzes and evaluates ongoing physical therapy programs to assess the quality of patient care and the need to incorporate new programs and techniques.

Directs subordinate supervision and therapy staff in the development of new therapy programs and revision of existing programs.

Plans and directs physical therapy training assignments for students.

Plans educational opportunities for the therapy staff to improve therapy services and to keep abreast of new innovations in therapy techniques.

Determines budgetary requirements for personnel, facilities and equipment for the physical therapy department.

Compiles the annual budget with justifications for submittal to the appropriate authority in the medical department or hospital administration.

Interviews and selects prospective employees and makes final decision to hire; evaluates the performance of first line supervisors and reviews all performance evaluations.

Advises subordinate supervision in resolving problems of employee utilization, grievances, and correction.

Leads research applicable to the development and improvement of therapy services.

Supervises the maintenance of records and preparation of reports.

May function as a faculty member of a university.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
EXAMINATION CONTENT:
Training & Experience (T&E) Evaluation
This assessment type will evaluate the education, training, experience, and desirable qualification(s) you list on your application and supplemental questionnaire and assign a score based on a standardized scoring system. This assessment is worth 100% of your total score. Applicants must receive a passing score of 70% or higher on the assessment to be added to the list.
ELIGIBILITY AND VACANCY INFORMATION:
Applicants who passed the assessment(s) are placed on a list in the order of their score group for a period of twelve (12) months. Applications will be processed as they are received and added to the list accordingly. We will use this list to fill vacancies in the Department of Health Services as they occur.

Appointees may be required to work any shift, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
