Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dynamic 6th/7th Grade Social Studies Teacher to inspire young learners and foster a love for history, geography, civics, and social sciences. Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards, incorporating educational technology and innovative instructional methods.
- Deliver engaging lessons on history, geography, civics, and social sciences tailored to 6th and 7th-grade students’ developmental levels.
- Utilize classroom management techniques to create a positive learning environment conducive to active participation and respectful behavior.
- Assess student progress through formative and summative evaluations, providing timely feedback to support growth.
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, instructional design, and implementing best practices for teaching social sciences.
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding student performance, behavior, and upcoming assessments or projects.
- Incorporate diverse learning styles and differentiated instruction strategies to meet the needs of all students.
- Prepare students for standardized testing and AP (Advanced Placement) programs related to social sciences when applicable.
- Integrate research skills, literacy education, and library services into lessons to enhance critical thinking and inquiry-based learning.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, lesson plans, and compliance with educational regulations.
Skills
- Expertise in curriculum development for middle school social studies with a focus on engaging instructional design.
- Strong understanding of AP style, Chicago Manual of Style, proofreading, copy editing, and journalistic writing techniques.
- Experience in teaching English language arts alongside social sciences to promote literacy across disciplines.
- Proficiency in educational technology integration including learning management systems and IT-embedded lessons.
- Skilled in classroom management, behavior management strategies, and implementing inclusive teaching practices such as Montessori or special education methods.
- Ability to adapt lessons based on diverse learning styles and developmental needs of teenagers.
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with colleagues, students, parents, and administrators.
- Knowledge of standardized testing procedures and experience preparing students for high-stakes assessments.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor students academically and socially while fostering a supportive classroom environment.
- Familiarity with educational compliance standards, higher education teaching principles when applicable, and research methodologies within the social sciences.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
