Overview
IU Health Fort Wayne Ambulatory Surgery Center is seeking an experienced and collaborative Registered Nurse Operating Room (OR) Clinical Coordinator to provide clinical leadership and operational support for our growing ambulatory surgery center. This role combines direct patient care with unit coordination responsibilities and serves as a key partner to the Clinical Manager and Director in ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality surgical services.
The RN OR Clinical Coordinator serves as a clinical expert, leader, mentor, and resource for perioperative staff while continuing to actively participate in patient care through circulating and/or scrubbing as needed. The ideal candidate is a team-oriented leader with strong communication skills, extensive OR experience, and a passion for supporting surgical excellence.

Key Responsibilities
-
Serve as a clinical leader, resource, and mentor for perioperative staff while maintaining direct patient care responsibilities through circulating and/or scrubbing.

Function as charge nurse as needed and assist with daily operational oversight, staffing assignments, and workflow coordination.

Coordinate surgical services by ensuring room readiness, reviewing schedules for staffing or equipment conflicts, and supporting efficient case flow.

Monitor supplies, inventory, and departmental compliance activities to promote a safe and effective surgical environment.

Assist with quality, documentation, and operational improvement initiatives, including charting and charge corrections as needed.

Support recruitment, onboarding, staff development, coaching, and performance management in collaboration with leadership.

Participate in leadership meetings and partner with the Clinical Manager and Director to support departmental goals, patient outcomes, and team engagement.

Serve as a role model who fosters teamwork, communication, accountability, and exceptional patient care.
