Responsibilities
- Assist dentists chairside during a variety of dental procedures, including oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
- Prepare and sterilize dental instruments and equipment following strict infection prevention management protocols.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray), including dental x-ray and 3D scanner imaging, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
- Manage patient records accurately using electronic medical records (EMR systems) such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, maintaining clinical confidentiality policies at all times.
- Provide patient care by taking vital signs, explaining procedures, and ensuring patients feel comfortable throughout their visit.
- Support dental reception duties by scheduling appointments, managing patient management software, and handling general inquiries professionally.
- Follow all infection control guidelines using aseptic technique to prevent healthcare-associated infections in accordance with healthcare infection prevention and control expertise.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or in a similar dental clinic setting with knowledge of dental terminology and clinical procedures.
- Proficiency with dental equipment including X-ray machines, sterilization tools, and digital imaging devices such as 3D scanners.
- Familiarity with EMR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix for managing medical documentation and records efficiently.
- Strong understanding of infection prevention management policies including dental sterilization procedures and aseptic techniques.
- Knowledge of anatomy relevant to dentistry, oral surgery procedures, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry is highly desirable.
- Ability to perform chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency during procedures.
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients of all ages while maintaining professionalism under clinical confidentiality policies.
- Certification in X-ray safety or radiography is preferred; ongoing training in healthcare infection control is a plus.
