Summary/Objective
The Department Supervisor is responsible for the direct oversight of a specific area(s). Supervision of associates includes validation of the quality and quantity of their work, communicating schedules, coordinating proper training, disciplinary issues, and other items as needs arise.
Oversight of physical production includes the set-up and change-over of production equipment, the quality of parts produced, the fulfillment of production orders, and the overall 5S condition of the Area.

- Assures specific quality guidelines are met and, if necessary, takes appropriate actions and measures to rectify quality issues.
- Maintains a safe and clean work area.
- Supervises all team leads, operators and machinery to ensure a productive process.
- Monitors all production processes and provides support where needed.
- Provides appropriate documentation for the Quality Management System.
- Oversees the set-up and change-over of production equipment according to drawings and specifications, including documentation.
- Oversees the production of try-out and series parts.
- Ensures safety, environmental protection and cleanliness in designated areas.
- Allocates labor for efficient operation a smooth production process in designated areas.
- Provides documentation regarding all aspects of the production department to the department manager in the time frame requested.
- Assures that employee relations situations are handled in a timely manner.
- Follows all guidelines set forth in our 5s training.
- Other duties and responsibilities can be assigned based on company needs and skills level.

This position has full supervisory responsibility over employees within the department.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full time position. This role operates on a shift schedule. Shifts are scheduled on three levels, 1st, 2ndand 3rd. Based on shift schedule, this position will work at least 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday. As production demands it, this role will be required to work overtime hours including weekend.
Travel
Generally, travel is expected for this role only driven by training. Travel can be local or international. Travel is expected to be less than 15%.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Experience with the set-up and change-over of production equipment.
- Experience with welded assembly parts for the automotive industry.
- Experience supervising and training staff.
- Solid Organizational skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word,etc.)
Preferred Education and Experience
- Experience with production in the Automotive Industry
- Lean / Six Sigma Black Belt.
- Basic PLC programming knowledge is an asset.
- Experience in SAP ERP platform.
