Position Overview
T&W Tire in Longview is looking for a reliable, hard-working Warehouse & Shop Technician who is eager to learn a valuable trade. This is a unique, entry-level Technician in Training position designed to teach you the commercial tire industry from the ground up, with a clear career pathway to becoming a skilled Commercial Tire Technician.
You’ll start by mastering the fundamentals of our shop and yard—handling inventory, loading and unloading trucks, and keeping our facility running smoothly. As you learn our operations, you will receive hands-on training from our experienced techs on how to safely mount, dismount, repair, and service commercial truck tires and heavy equipment.
Key Responsibilities & Career Growth
- Hands-On Tech Training: Work alongside senior technicians to learn the trade—mastering tire service on commercial trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment.
- Loading & Unloading: Safely load and unload route trucks, freight carriers, and customer vehicles with heavy commercial truck tires and retreads.
- Inventory Control: Organize, stack, and stage tire inventory in the warehouse and yard. Help track incoming stock, retread casings, and outgoing orders.
- Shop & Yard Maintenance: Keep the shop bays, warehouse floor, and surrounding yard clean, safe, and clutter-free. Move scrap tires and manage casing stacks.
- Equipment Safety: Safely operate material handling tools, tire dollies, air impact tools, and forklifts following all TIA and OSHA safety protocols.
Qualifications & Skills
- Mechanical Aptitude & Eagerness to Learn: You don't need previous tire experience, but you must have a strong desire to learn a hands-on mechanical trade and grow your skills.
- Heavy Physical Capability: Must be able to repeatedly lift, stack, roll, and maneuver heavy commercial truck tires (up to 100+ lbs) throughout the workday.
- Work Ethic & Urgency: Highly reliable, punctual, and ready to put in an honest day's work in a fast-paced environment.
- Environment: Comfortable working on your feet in a non-climate-controlled warehouse, shop bay, and outdoor yard setting.
- Hiring Requirements:
- Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment background check and a drug/alcohol screen.
Pay: $10.00 - $16.00 per hour
