Overview
We are hiring a Maintenance/ Janitorial Associate ensures the facility equipment and machinery run efficiently by conducting regular preventative maintenance (repairing as needed). In addition, the Maintenance department performs heavy duty cleaning such as cleaning the floors throughout the facility, washing walls and glass, and removing rubbish. The Maintenance Associate is responsible for repairing, maintaining, and troubleshooting equipment within the facility. Will be responsible for various duties including, moving waste cardboard, emptying waste containers, sweeping, and possibly using powered cleaning equipment, cleaning entrances, cafeterias, bathrooms, and office areas.
Responsibilities
- Maintain the condition of all material handling equipment including forklifts, reach trucks and waves
- Maintain all automated and manual processing equipment including shrink wrap machines, conveyors, and storage racks
- Improving the efficiency of equipment where practical
- Ensure equipment within the facility does not present a danger to the health or safety of teammates
- Maintain complete records of inspections and work completed
- Ensure all fire extinguishers, fire exit doors, and emergency lighting are functioning properly and meet all regulatory codes
- Design, implement, and maintain preventive maintenance on equipment
- Maintain sufficient inventory of parts and necessary supplies
- Follow standard operating procedures
- Practice safe work habits to ensure production is as efficient and safe as possible
- Notify team lead of any technical or material issues
Experience
- Basic knowledge and skills in electrical, electronics, mechanics, plumbing and carpentry Previous janitorial or custodial experience is preferred, showcasing familiarity with cleaning techniques and equipment.
- Experience in manufacturing would be advantageous
- Experience in operating bench and portable power tools
- Knowledge of health and safety laws
- Excellent knowledge of equipment used in the manufacturing process
- Experience in residential painting or general maintenance tasks will be considered an asset.
- A strong work ethic with attention to detail and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
