Part-Time Front Desk Receptionist
Location: NW Psychiatry of Eugene
Job Type: Part-Time (Approximately 20 hours per week)
Position Summary:
We are seeking a dependable, organized, and compassionate Front Desk Receptionist to join our outpatient psychiatric practice. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys providing exceptional customer service while maintaining accuracy in administrative and medical billing responsibilities.
As the first point of contact for our patients, you will play a vital role in creating a welcoming, professional, and supportive environment. Because our practice serves individuals experiencing mental health challenges, applicants must demonstrate empathy, patience, professionalism, and excellent communication skills.
This position combines front office responsibilities with medical billing duties and offers a unique opportunity to gain valuable experience in the administrative side of healthcare. Essential Responsibilities
Front Office Responsibilities:
- Greet patients in a warm, welcoming, and professional manner
- Answer and direct incoming phone calls
- Schedule, confirm, and reschedule appointments
- Check patients in and out for appointments
- Collect copayments, deductibles, and outstanding balances
- Prepare and process new patient registration and intake paperwork
- Verify and update patient demographic and insurance information
- Communicate professionally with patients in person, over the phone, and through secure messaging
- Maintain an organized, clean, and professional reception area
- Scan, upload, and maintain patient documents within the electronic medical record
- Assist with general administrative and office support duties
Medical Billing Responsibilities:
- Submit electronic insurance claims accurately and promptly
- Enter and post insurance and patient payments
- Review claim status and assist in resolving claim denials or billing discrepancies
- Verify insurance eligibility and benefits
- Maintain accurate billing records within the electronic medical record (EMR) system
- Communicate with insurance companies regarding claim processing when necessary
- Assist patients with billing questions in a courteous and professional manner
Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to learn new software and office procedures quickly
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to maintain strict patient confidentiality and comply with all HIPAA regulations
- Reliable transportation and a strong record of punctuality and attendance
- No criminal background
Preferred:
- Previous experience in a medical office, healthcare setting, or customer service role
- Medical billing experience
- Experience using an Electronic Medical Record (EMR/EHR) system
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Experience verifying insurance benefits and eligibility
- Experience working with insurance claims and payment posting
