Wildfire Academy is an Acton Imprimis school that believes every child is a genius with unique gifts and the ability to change the world. We are seeking a passionate, growth-minded Full-Time Guide to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who loves working with children, values independence over compliance, and enjoys asking questions more than giving answers.
We are hiring for one of two studios:
- Ignition Studio: 2nd–5th Grade
- Bonfire Studio: 6th Grade and Up
The right candidate may work in either studio based on experience and fit.
What Makes This Role Different?
At Wildfire Academy, our guides are not traditional teachers. Instead of standing at the front of the classroom delivering lectures, guides create an environment where students take ownership of their learning, solve real problems, collaborate with peers, and develop character through meaningful challenges.
Our guides mentor, encourage, facilitate discussions, and ask powerful questions that help students discover answers for themselves.
Responsibilities
- Guide students through their daily learning journey using the Acton model.
- Foster a safe, joyful, and respectful learning environment.
- Facilitate Socratic discussions rather than traditional lectures.
- Encourage student ownership, responsibility, and goal setting.
- Support students in developing executive functioning, leadership, and character.
- Observe student progress and provide encouragement and accountability.
- Collaborate with fellow guides and school leadership.
- Communicate professionally with parents when needed.
- Prepare the studio for a productive and engaging day.
- Participate in training and continued professional development.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who is:
- Passionate about working with children
- Positive, energetic, and encouraging
- Naturally curious and eager to continue learning
- Organized and dependable
- Comfortable leading groups of children
- Able to maintain high expectations while building strong relationships
- A strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills
- Adaptable and willing to embrace innovative approaches to education
- Comfortable with technology and self-directed learning
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred (not required for exceptional candidates)
- Experience working with elementary or middle school students
- Experience in education, youth development, coaching, mentoring, or similar fields
- Familiarity with Montessori, Acton Academy, project-based learning, homeschooling, or alternative education is a plus
- Must pass a background check
Compensation
- $16–$20 per hour, based on experience
