Overview
Ammex Rebar Placers is seeking an experienced Rebar General Foreman to serve in a senior field leadership role overseeing multiple foremen, crews, and active commercial, structural, and heavy civil projects throughout Arizona.
This is a hands-on field leadership position responsible for managing and supporting our foremen, coordinating manpower between projects, monitoring production, maintaining quality and safety standards, and keeping projects on schedule. This position will serve as a key point of communication between Ammex management, our foremen, general contractors, and other project stakeholders.
The ideal candidate has extensive rebar placement experience, has successfully managed multiple foremen and crews, understands production and manpower planning, and can identify and solve field issues before they impact the schedule. Experience with post-tensioning systems in both building and bridge construction is preferred.
This is a field-based leadership position that combines oversight of foremen and crews with hands-on support as needed. The General Foreman should be comfortable stepping in and working alongside the crews when project demands require it, including helping meet schedules, completing critical work, or resolving field issues.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversee multiple rebar foremen and their crews across active projects throughout Arizona, including the Phoenix metropolitan area, Tucson, Flagstaff, Williams, Payson and other project locations as needed.
- Must be willing to travel to jobsites throughout Arizona, including occasional travel outside the Phoenix metropolitan area as project needs require.
- Provide direction and support to foremen while holding them accountable for crew performance, production, quality, safety, and project schedules.
- Coordinate manpower across projects based on schedules, workload, production needs, and upcoming project starts.
- Work with Ammex management to plan crew sizes, manpower needs, equipment needs, and project sequencing.
- Regularly visit active jobsites to monitor progress, identify potential issues, and ensure foremen and crews have what they need to perform efficiently.
- Monitor labor productivity and job progress to help ensure projects are being completed within planned labor hours and production expectations.
- Coordinate daily and weekly construction activities with foremen, general contractors, project managers, inspectors, and other trades.
- Review and interpret reinforcing plans, placing drawings, bar lists, structural drawings, specifications, and project details.
- Verify reinforcing steel is installed according to plans, specifications, applicable standards, and project requirements.
- Identify constructability issues, drawing conflicts, missing information, or field conditions requiring clarification and communicate them to management and the appropriate project team.
- Maintain awareness of upcoming pours, inspections, deliveries, mobilizations, and schedule changes across all assigned projects.
- Assist with planning rebar deliveries, equipment, materials, and other field resources when required.
- Maintain quality control and minimize rework by identifying placement issues before inspections or concrete placement.
- Enforce Ammex safety requirements and applicable OSHA standards across all projects.
- Work with foremen to conduct toolbox talks, safety meetings, and corrective actions when necessary.
- Assist in training, developing, and evaluating foremen and field employees.
- Help identify manpower needs and assist management with recruiting and evaluating experienced foremen and reinforcing ironworkers.
- Maintain clear communication with Ammex management regarding project status, manpower, productivity, schedule concerns, safety issues, extra work, and potential scope changes.
- Identify extra work or work outside the contracted scope before it is performed whenever possible and communicate it to management for documentation.
- Assist with field documentation including daily reports, manpower records, extra-work documentation, safety documentation, and other required project records.
- Take ownership of field problems and work with foremen and management to develop practical solutions.
- Be willing to perform rebar and post-tensioning field work when necessary to support crews, meet critical schedules, resolve problems, or complete the work.
Post-Tensioning Experience
- Experience with post-tensioning systems is preferred.
- Must have field experience with PT installation and operations on both building and bridge projects.
- Must understand PT installation procedures, tendon/strand placement, stressing operations, wedges and anchorage systems, elongations, grouting operations, and applicable safety requirements.
- Must be comfortable coordinating PT activities with project teams and identifying field conditions that could affect installation or stressing.
Qualifications
- Extensive field experience in reinforcing steel installation.
- Previous experience as a Rebar Foreman, Senior Foreman, or similar field leadership position strongly preferred.
- Proven ability to oversee multiple foremen and crews rather than managing only a single crew.
- Experience managing multiple active projects and allocating manpower between jobs.
- Strong knowledge of rebar installation methods for structural concrete, including foundations, footings, grade beams, walls, columns, decks, slabs, bridges, and other reinforced concrete structures.
- Heavy civil, bridge, commercial, and structural construction experience strongly preferred.
- Preferred experience with post-tensioning systems in both building and bridge construction.
- Strong ability to read and interpret structural drawings, reinforcing plans, placing drawings, bar lists, details, and project specifications.
- Strong understanding of rebar production, crew sizing, manpower planning, sequencing, and field productivity.
- Working knowledge of OSHA requirements and construction safety practices.
- Ability to communicate effectively with foremen, field employees, general contractors, inspectors, engineers, project managers, and Ammex management.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple active projects and changing priorities.
- Ability to identify problems quickly, make sound field decisions, and communicate issues before they affect production or schedule.
- Must be willing to travel between jobsites throughout the Phoenix metropolitan area and surrounding areas as required.
- Must be flexible with work hours and start times based on project schedules. Some projects may require very early morning departures, extended travel, or occasional overnight stays for jobs outside the Phoenix area.
- Must have a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
- Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred, but not required.
Compensation
- $40–$45 per hour, depending on experience
