Rushton Hoffman and Associates, PLLC, an established immigration law firm, is seeking a full-time Legal Assistant/Paralegal to join our team.
We are looking for an experienced immigration professional with strong knowledge of USCIS applications and consular processing. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience preparing and managing family-based immigration cases, including I-130, I-485, I-765, I-601A, and related applications, as well as extensive experience with the National Visa Center (NVC) and consular processing procedures.
IMPORTANT: Applicants MUST have prior hands-on experience with consular processing and NVC cases. If you do not have experience with consular processing, please do not apply.
The ideal candidate is fully bilingual in Spanish and English, highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing a high-volume caseload in a fast-paced immigration law firm.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and file USCIS immigration applications and petitions, including but not limited to I-130, I-485, I-765, I-601A, and related forms and supporting documentation.
- Conduct detailed client interviews and identify necessary supporting documentation.
- Manage consular processing cases from start to finish.
- Prepare and submit National Visa Center (NVC) documentation and submissions.
- Monitor NVC case status, respond to requests, and follow up on outstanding matters.
- Assist clients with document collection and preparation for consular processing.
- Review case documents for completeness, accuracy, and consistency.
- Monitor USCIS and NVC case progress, deadlines, and required actions.
- Maintain accurate and detailed case notes and records.
- Communicate with clients regarding case updates, document requests, and case requirements.
- Coordinate and follow up on cases with USCIS, NVC, and other relevant agencies as needed.
- Manage a heavy caseload while maintaining accuracy, organization, and timely case progression.
- Work closely with attorneys and other legal staff to ensure cases are prepared and handled efficiently.
Required Qualifications
- Prior hands-on experience with consular processing is REQUIRED.
- Prior experience working with the National Visa Center (NVC) is REQUIRED.
- Prior experience preparing and filing USCIS applications is REQUIRED.
- Demonstrated experience with family-based immigration matters.
- Strong working knowledge of USCIS forms, filing requirements, and supporting documentation.
- Fluency in Spanish and English, both spoken and written.
- Ability to independently manage multiple cases and competing deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify errors or missing documentation.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Professional demeanor and excellent client-service skills.
- Dependable, proactive, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Ability to take initiative and work independently while following established procedures.

We are seeking a motivated and experienced immigration professional who can hit the ground running, manage cases with minimal supervision, and provide excellent service to our clients.
Salary is commensurate with experience.
