Job Summary:
We are seeking an energetic nurse with leadership experience. The nurse will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care to individuals undergoing detoxification and recovery treatment. This role involves monitoring patients’ physical health, administering medications, and collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure the best outcomes for our patients.
*Psych experience preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Patient Care:
- Monitor and assess the physical health and vital signs of patients undergoing detoxification and recovery.
- Administer medications, injections, and IV fluids as prescribed, ensuring accurate documentation of treatments.
- Provide emotional support and education to patients and their families about the detox process and recovery.
2. Medical Assessment & Documentation:
- Perform initial assessments on new patients to identify medical needs and risks associated with substance abuse.
- Record patient progress, changes in condition, and treatment plans accurately in electronic health records (EHR).
- Recognize and respond to medical emergencies related to detox symptoms or withdrawal.
3. Collaborate with Healthcare Team:
- Work closely with physicians, therapists, counselors, and support staff to develop and implement individualized care plans for patients.
- Participate in team meetings to discuss patient progress, challenges, and treatment modifications.
- Provide input on patient treatment strategies, particularly in relation to health and wellness.
4. Patient Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety protocols, including infection control and medication management.
- Educate patients on medication adherence and monitor their reactions to prescribed treatments.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to legal and ethical guidelines.
5. Support Recovery Process:
- Assist in the detoxification process by monitoring withdrawal symptoms and administering interventions as needed.
- Provide resources to support patients in understanding the impact of substance abuse and recovery options in regards to their health.
Qualifications:
- Education: Registered Nurse (RN) with an active state nursing license.
- Experience: Previous experience in a healthcare or substance abuse setting is preferred, but not required. Experience in detoxification, addiction recovery, or psychiatric nursing is a plus.
- Skills:
- Strong understanding of detoxification and withdrawal symptoms.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to empathize with patients.
- Knowledge of substance abuse disorders and treatment methodologies.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Additional Requirements:
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to maintain a professional demeanor and work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Work Environment:
The nurse will work in a supportive, therapeutic environment, interacting with patients, medical professionals, and counselors. The position may involve shifts that include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
