Bedford, MA based manufacturer of analyte, blood gas, and chemistry analyzers seeks a dynamic shipping & receiving professional to oversee our outbound and inbound logistics assignments for an established 150-employee entrepreneurial organization.
Summary
We are looking for a senior-level individual to join our Operations team and become responsible for supervising the accurate preparation and release of all international and domestic shipments as well as receiving of incoming raw materials. This individual will lead and motivate a team of 3 to 5 individuals and assure customer orders are shipped complete, well protected, and with proper documentation.
Additional expectations will be to implement continuous improvement activities and develop procedures and processes to help grow the organization’s ability to scale, drive efficiencies, and improve customer satisfaction.
This is a hands-on supervisor role, and the incumbent is expected to assist with all aspects of the pick-pack-ship process.
Essential duties and responsibilities
- Prioritize daily work assignments and responsibilities for team.
- Supervise and coordinate domestic and international shipping requirements including ERP transactional data, product selection & lot traceability, accuracy of bill of ladings, and scheduling & coordination of carrier pick-up.
- Confirm quantities, weights and dimensions, and request for freight quotes.
- Work closely with Customer Service group to prioritize customer order releases. Confirm customer financial status with Finance group on risk shipments.
- Develop metrics for department that will drive continuous improvement activities.
- Document processes and procedures for shipping, material transfers, packaging and final assembly.
- Supports regulatory requirements by adhering to export compliance procedures; maintain shipping records for QA traceability.
- Assure team members are properly trained on assignments; completes employee performance reviews.
- Supervise and support incoming Receiving group.
- Coordinates movement of materials between Medica’s two building locations.
- Organize finish goods warehouse, staging areas, and walk-in refrigeration rooms.
- Maintain packaging supplies and warehouse equipment.
· Performance of other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
Experience/Education:
Position requires associate’s degree (or equivalent), seven years of International/Domestic Shipping experience, understanding of computer based shipping through FedEx, UPS, and comprehensive experience with international shipping and export compliance requirements. Understanding of refrigerated shipments. Understanding of a “Build to Stock” culture
Skills/Prior Training:
- Microsoft Word and Excel
- Able to work with ERP systems to manage shipments, customer orders, work orders.
- Valid Driver’s License and clean driving history.
- Demonstrates good organizational skills.
- Perform duties with a high degree of independence, determining the correct courses of action and informs department manager of matters requiring attention.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with other employees.
Pay: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
