A Mechanic Helper will assist in maintaining our Refuse Truck Fleet at the Decker Dispose-All Facility in Bacliff, TX. The successful Diesel Mechanic Helper will be responsible for assisting Lead Mechanics with the maintenance
and repair our fleet of Refuse Trucks in a shop setting.
Automotive, heavy equipment, refuse truck, or diesel mechanical experience.
Understanding of electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems and a mechanical
aptitude.
The ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and DOT physical.
A valid Texas driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
A strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, and a willingness to learn.
Make sound decisions regarding truck maintenance.
Complete daily maintenance assignments in a timely and efficient manner.
Interest in growing their career with training to become a full-time mechanic.
Must have own tools or willingness to purchase required tools.
Performing vehicle PM.
Perform vehicle pre and post-trip inspections.
Maintaining regular fleet oil changes.
Frequent tire inspections.
Grease trucks.
Replacing hydraulic hoses.
Replace lights.
Pay TBD based on experience.
Must be able to pass a drug screen
Must have a good work history
Must physically be able to lift, carry, push, and pull at least 50 lbs
Must have the physical ability to climb in/out and on/off of the truck repeatedly
Must have scheduling flexibility to work early mornings, late evenings, and Saturdays as the business deems necessary
Must have the adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations such as weather, traffic, equipment malfunctions, etc
Must be able to work in various weather elements
Must have a team player mentality and be willing to help when and where needed
Must have good communication skills
